Re: D-Link DWL-G700AP Access Point
You need to connect the access apoint directly to a pc with a CAT5 cable then set up a static ip on the pc which I assume you know how to do it, for the static ip put 192.168.0.5 subnet is 255.255.255.0 and gateway is 192.168.0.1 then save the settings, then check first if there's a good connection between the access point and pc, go to the command prompt then type PING 192.168.0.50 if you receive 4 replies go now open the http://192.168.0.50 if you receive 4 request time out reset the access point and and ping it again if still 4 request time out after you reset it replace that access point.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi, here's how you can find your access point's IP address:
The access point is also your default gateway, because it's the device that you use to access the Internet, right? Open up a command prompt window (go to the Start menu, click on Run, type "cmd" and then hit Enter) and type "ipconfig" and hit Enter.
A bunch of information will appear. The one you want to look for is the one called "Default Gateway." The IP address that appears following "Default Gateway" is your access point's IP address.
Please rate this solution based on how helpful it was. (If you still can't find the IP address, add a comment and I'll be happy to reply.)
Under Windows 7, press the "Start" button.
Type 'cmd' into the search-box, and press ENTER.
Type 'ipconfig /all', and press ENTER.
Look for the IP-address for the "gateway" (or "DHCP-server").
Type that IP-address into your web-browser.
be sure to check every point on this TIP to connect to "prescribed site" (I assume the default router IP address 192.168.0.1) you must be on same subnet and connect using a cable to router. Consult Quick install Guide or follow user manual Page !0 instructions: First, disable the Access the Internet using a proxy server function. To disable this function, go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings and uncheck the enable box. Open your web browser program such as Internet Explorer. Type the IP address of the DWL-2100AP in the address field (http://192.168.0.50) and press Enter. Make sure that the IP addresses of the DWL-2100AP and your computer are in the same subnet.
If you need help in the matter let me know and I'll send you instructions
Your router latest Firmware I can see on D-link website is 1.02 If you are referring to German web site page showing a dwl-g700ap_fw_revB_v213b06.zip file be sure to follow the instruction to UNZIP the web_dwlg700ap_v200_r11_0408.bin file: DWL-G700ap Firmware Update
If you did not unzip the bin file router cannot run it as firmware update More over be sure to run the update via LAN cable connection (no WLAN)
then user is admin
passowr dis bleank or admin
then selcet setup of nternet type is with static ip set ip and gateway.
also set security encryption key.
also enable advanced security.
then allow mec adreses of which u want to give internet.
what you need to do here is manually set your static IP adress,
I had this problem as well and I know what to do.
you need to go to your network connections ( Controll panel>network connections) in xp (Controll panel>network and sharing center then left hand it sais: change adapter settings )
then rightclick your wireless connection and look at it's properties.
then you need to click on Internet Protocol, for vista/windows 7 it's internet protocol 4 which you need to select.
once selected click on properties just a little below.
there you'll see the setting is on: obtain Ip automaticly, but you'll have to choose ( use the following IP adress ) and enter
IP adress: 192.168.0.99 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.50
once entered press OK and now go to your browser and type the routers adress (192.168.0.50) in my case and now you should be in your modems setup menu.
once changed your setting you need to change your IP back to auto obtain IP adress. or your internet still won't work
that is right the access point does not have a dhcp server. that will give an ip address to all of your computers or device connected to it wireless. If you have a modem with a dhcp server there will be no problem with the IP but if the modem does not you must have a router and now an access point.
