Question about ASUS P4GE-MX Motherboard

Usb ports not working

Well recently, my pc's usb ports are working very fine.
suddenly, my co-workers here just told me that they just stop working.
all usb device are not detected to all usb ports.
i've looked every possiblities why this problem happened.
ive checked the bios setup and it's ok everything is enabled,
drivers are also properly installed.
i even tested it last time by going to regedt32 -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCURRENTCONTROLSETENUMUSB
i changed the permission into full access and
i deleted the ROOT_HUB and ROOT_HUB20 and restarted the pc...

when it boots up, those deleted values were automatically installed,
guess the system traced it out that they are missing and needed them to install again...

but the problem is that usb devices aren't yet working....
that means usb ports' drivers were installed and detected by any usb removable device are not? What seems to be the problem bro?
thanks in advance... hope you could help me out with this...

Motherboard issue.assuming all the drivers are properly installed. Not uncommon. Use the remainder and if necessary get an adapter to increase the number of ports you have.

If you are talking about an external hard drive or external usb device that you put into one of the usb ports it might be bad. You could try a different usb port. Also try using it on another computer.

If it does not work on a different usb port or another computer then it's definitely bad.

If you are using a usb hub it could be the problem; try disconnecting the hub. Try to plug the pen drive into a usb port on the pc not on a hub. If the usb hub has a separate power supply make sure it is working. Hope I was of some help, Thanks for using FixYa

I have brother MFC-7420 printer which was working fine on my mac pc, now all of a sudden it has stopped printing or scanning and says printer offline

Try a new data cable. Make sure there are no error messages on the printer itself and that it is on.

If you are using a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection. Check that a known working device works in the ports. Try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. The drivers are available here: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/download_top.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfc7420_all . Select your OS, then language and click Search.

Check the device status and the USB status. (I know how to do this in Windows but forget the Mac specifics.)

I hope this helps.

(we recently had a Windows computer that suddenly wouldn't correctly identify any device on the USB ports. On that laptop, we had to pull the battery and disconnect the charger to clear the USB error.)

There are a few toys and devices made in China that deadshort the USB terminals. I hope you have not bought and installed one of these. I had 2 in the shop a year ago with some Dora Explorer usb toy that toasted the usb once installed. If you have bought and installed something about the same time as the usb stopped working you will need to call the company that made the device and demand they replace your motherboard.

Usb ports not working

All the USB ports were working before he installed SP3 and rebooted. After that only the mouse/keyboard ports worked. Same thing happened to me. No other changes were made, so something added/change by SP3 is the culprit.

Questions is...what did SP3 do to break USB and how to fix it?
