HEAT, HEAT, HEAT people! .....its the number 1 enemy of computer components and women s hair. IF U DONT HAVE A LAPTOP COOLER FAN FOR THE A_135 OR ANY LAPTOP.... IT WILL BURN PARTS < AND SOMETIMES BURN YOU>>>LITERALLY! BELIEVE ME, I KEPT MY MC GRIDDLE WARM ON THIS MOCK GRILL!

THAT ONE TINY FAN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CASE IZ NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP THE DAMN THING COOL........................................................................................................................

to make the long debate short....
the usb root hub inside is very fragile and so cheap...
when a motherboard reaches the temp. limit.... every
program will freeze.... from there.... it spreads outward
and burns out connected cards, usb root hubs, etc. heat
is the reason for hardware failure......a very poor design from toshiba
( I am a game tech. at dave n busters.... most of our games are ran by custom computers running windows!)

You can get a USB card with cable and that should solve the problem. Google part # LS-3391P and it should come up or look on Ebay as I did for an A135 USB card. I got mine for around $11 after shipping.

I have the same problem with my Toshiba A135-S2286. I installed a PCMCIA-USB card; but it did not solve the problem. I downgraded the OS to Windows XP Pro, unfortunately it can NOT solve the problem. I installed a PCMCIA-USB card; still have a problem. The Win XP recognized the USB device (a USB drive; I can see the contents of the drive); installed the proper drivers, unfortunately the laptop "hang" after I accessed the USB device. In my opinion, Windows Vista works better than the XP on this laptop because it does not make the laptop frozen.

Well I had the same problem, then a little while later my motherboard went dead, i had to send it back to Toshiba and they replaced it for free.. It could be that *********** board is dieing, i would call Toshiba if your still under warranty and have them replace it, it takes a total of 10 days usually you'll have it home in about a week in my case anyways..

Your USB port is most likely broken. Try blowing in the port or Plug it in another port. Also check if your IPhone cord is broken.
You can also mess around in your Add Devices program.

Try moving the arc mouse USB dongle to another USB port on your Toshiba Satellite L650. If the mouse works on the other port, then the first port is the problem. Use Control Panel's Device Manager to further diagnose the port problem.

There are a few toys and devices made in China that deadshort the USB terminals. I hope you have not bought and installed one of these. I had 2 in the shop a year ago with some Dora Explorer usb toy that toasted the usb once installed. If you have bought and installed something about the same time as the usb stopped working you will need to call the company that made the device and demand they replace your motherboard.

USB ports not working. Any ideas?

In that case ,
Click on start and run
Type devmgmt.msc

Then uninstall all devices under universal serial bus controller.

Then need to click on any option in the list and scan for h/w changes.

This will install all devices back and your system will be able to recognize all devices now.

Hope this help.

Cheers!!!!!!!

USB PORTS DO NOT WORK

Turn off computer and try connecting an older mouse to the mouse port. If it works:

Right click Computer>click properties>click hardware>click Device Manager> click USB adapters. Then check to see if some of them are marked. Also you can click on each one to see if each is OK. Make sure that USB is enabled in the BIOS.
