How to Replace the builtin keyboard for the Sony PCV-W600G
How do you replace the builtin keyboard for the Sony PCV-W600G. I bought a new keyboard but it didn't come with istallation instructions. It looks like I have to take apart the monitor to plug in the keyboard cable.
Re: How to Replace the builtin keyboard for the Sony...
Where did you buy the keyboard? I contacted Sony, but they wouldn't sell the keyboard to me. They want me to send them my computer and the y will fix it. Problem is... I am living and working in Japan and the shipping would be ridiculous. (Japan Sony won't fix it, because it is an American model, even though it was built in Japan!)
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

I just finished working on a pcv-w510g and in my case it seems some liquid was dropped on it, and the chip is messed up. (i saw this when i opened it).
you can try to:
Plug in another keyboard and type in the password.
Try to acess the bios and disable stop on keyboard errors.
Or open the keyboard and unplug it compleatly if it helps.
Or take out the HDD and put it in an external enclosure or in another pc to get the data off.
there is a panel infront of the screen that comes away with some gentle help with a presission flat screwdriver, this reaveals the keyboard and allows you remove it, it is connected with a ribbon cable, remove this with caution using fingernails cos you can damage it
Do you have the User's Manual? Here is a link to that User Manual, but it looks to be in a proprietary format (.chm) that must be downloaded to the Sony PC in order to view (rather dumb, I think, but that's Sony for you!).
I could not find any other information about this unit other than what I found on the Sony website.
