You would need a remote---with that if all else fails there is a way to release the parental control by doing a reset using the option menu, let me know as with the Mitsubishi remote and a 4 number code you can get to the OPTION menu and reset this set.
To unlock the panel lock of your JVC tv do the following.
Turn on the JVC television and press the "Menu" key on the remote control. Use the Up and Down or Channel buttton to toggle through thre menu selections until V-chip appears. Stop on V-chip and press the right arrow button to display a padlock icon Enter the four-digit code by pressing the numbers on the keypad. If a code has not been entered, the default code is 0000 (four zeros). Press the right-arrow key to unlock the channels Unplug the JVC television for at least 15 minutes to reset the code to 0000 if a previously set code has been lost or forgotten OK
If you have a Mitsubishi remote or the one that came with the TV, you can try the following.
Select the input.
When it asks for the code press and hold the QV button on the remote, then press the number 9.
That should unlock the input.
Then navigate through the menu and turn off the input lock, or any other locks that may have been set with the same key combo listed above.
I hope that this helps you with this issue.
Thanks for usning Fixya.

For the majority of phillips/magnavox universal remotes: Hold code search button down till red light satys on. Press the tv button and the red light should blink and stay lit. With the tv on, push the power button repeatedly until the tv turns off.(dont push the power button again after the tv turns off or it will go to the next code). Push the mute button to save the setting.
