my roomba is picking up light dust but just ignoring hairs or fluf. it is remaining on the brushes.

Have cleaned everything and renewed filter

The gear case that provides the power for the brushes is full of hair. Remove the bottom of the machine (4 screws), remove the brush (4 screws) assemblies and then remove the 5 screws that hold the gear case together. Clean the gears thoroughly (including the gear teeth) and reassemble

I have a roomba 530. It is making a clicking noise, and runs for about two minutes then stops stating, "Please Clean Roombas Brushes."

After cleaning Roombas brushes it runs for about two minutes and repeats the loop.

Before taking apart your Roomba read this!!! First to see if it is a defect or really the brushes, take the brusehs out and run roomba with out them. If you still hear the clicking/ thumping then try taking it apart or call roomba. But if the clicking/ thumping goes away when the brushes are out you're in luck! Take the brushes. The brushes have little yellow nubs... those come out. pull them out, and you will see a lot of hair waiting for you. clean all of the hair out ( tweezers are wonderful for this). Once they are cleaned out put the yellow nubs back on. Put your brushes back in and you're Roomba will be back to business in no time!!!

Agree. The clicking/thumping/clunking noise indicates that the brushes are not rotating correctly. Taking the brushes out will help isolate whether the issue is with the bushes or the gear assembly. If it is the gear assembly you can call roomba support to have the assembly replaced or fix it yourself. I have had to clean the gears of pet hair myself, which is not a hard process. Directions with pictures can be found online.

I had the same problem (clicking noise and stopping after a few minutes - without brushes installed either) and followed the post by ikfjr. I used a compressed air can to clean out all the dust from inside the unit. I noticed a rubber lip under the brush housing which had been bent over incorrectly from a previous service. I made sure this was in place when putting everything back together. Without brushes and with the rear bin off, I noticed that the clicking was actually caused by the brush housing flicking up while the wheels moved around. I reinstalled the brushes and rear bin. On the initial clean, there was a more muted click which happened for a few minutes and then it disappeared. My Roomba now works like new again. Thanks to everyone that helps.

I had the same clicking noise jamming problem with my roomba 560. I found out that one of the small bearings inside the "gear box" was stuck. It came loose after taking it out and rolling it with my fingers. The gearbox itself was clean from inside. After this it worked fine.

The largest gear/bearing was jammed on my 535 model. The gearbox was really clean inside. I had to pop the gear/bearing out of the gearbox. I soaked it in WD-40 and used compressed air to spray the gunk out. I did this 3 times. The I added a few drops of 3 in 1 oil and reassembled. Working great. Thanks for the help.

I had the same problem described above and tried everything until I tried cleaning under the yellow nubs and that worked great! So happy! Such a simple fix and we went through so many brushes before finding the real issue.

Why does robot roomba 530 repeatedly stop and say to clean brushes

I think it's telling you to flip it over, open up the brush compartment, take the brushes out, remove everything wrapped around them, replace them and close it up. I suspect that your brushes are wrapped up with something.

Next open up the filter compartment, dump it into the trash, pop or slide out the filter and bang it into the trash can. Give it a quick rinse in the sink to wash off the fine dust still on the filter. Let it dry and insert it back into the filter compartment.

Your bump sensors are malfunctioning. I had the same problem.. The best thing to do is order a repair kit. I ordered mine from EESolutions.ca and it worked great. I'd recommend it.

Good Morning, My Roomba makes a banging sound and the brushes don't turn. It stops after about two minutes. Thank you & regards, Judith Halls

Hi Judith,

after removing and cleaning your Roomba's brushes & bearings (see the manual for instructions), try running the unit without the dust bin. You can watch the main brush while the Roomba runs. If it's not turning, it's time to call support.

"Please clean Roombas brushes"

Same thing happened to me. After "cleaning" the brushes and emptying the filter several times, I realized that the brushes were not properly secured. One of the yellow fasteners needed to be pushed closer to the middle nearer to the brushes. It was not secured properly. When I did this it fixed my problem.
