You are correct. The Asus P5K does support SATA RAID configuration. Page 4-14 in the user manual.
Congifuration [Enhanced]. Only real option is IDE. That does not mean the SATA drives will run like an IDE. The SATA's will function faster. In order to get RAID function you would need to have bought the Asus P5K Deluxe. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P5K%20Deluxe/WiFi-AP&SLanguage=en-us

If this is a new board, return to store for an exchange for the ASUS P5K DeluxeWiFi-AP.

Need manual for C51GU01

In the bios there's an option to configure SATA as "IDE", "AHCI", or "RAID".
If you don't have data to loose, try this. Install the drive, set the BIOS option to "IDE", boot to windows, install manufacturer's IDE/SATA controller drivers, restart, set the BIOS option to "AHCI".

AHCI stands for Advanced Host Controller Interface. There are rumors that setting AHCI without manufacturer's drivers will give you a BSOD. I'm not sure if you can recover it by switching back to "IDE", but it should be worth a shot.
Best of luck

You seem to have tried everything. Is it possible for you to reload your motherboard drivers, particularly the IDE and SATA drivers. Maybe one of the SW drivers got corrupted. Hope this works.

ASUS P5LD2 Raid 5 locks windows at MUP.SYS

A stab in the dark. Sound like the MB BIOS expects and is written to have the OS on the  IDE  slot. After that I would add one SATA drive at a time to see if it matters and to see if one of the drives are causing the problem.

I can't use HDD sata on mainboard ASUS P5RD1-VM

Things need to be turned on in your bios patrohi. This is why windows didn't boot to the SATA. You need to use your manual & make sure the, Serial ATA Controller is [Enabled]
Within the Advanved menue under SouthBridge Configuration.
At the Main menue the SATA drive should be listed.
Boot settings need to change as well. At Boot Settings Configurations. Make sure your SATA drive is listed.
Boot order should list like, Floppy 1st, CDROM 2nd, SATA 3rd. The SATA will not list as a SATA but the model number of the SATA drive. Once all these settings are set save & exit. Your drive should show up for work & the windows CD should load.

Asus P5K-E Wifi/AP configuring sata as raid

Hello to start with.
Here are a few specks from me to start with.
1) E6850 core duo 2 x3ghz
2) 2 gig Corsiar Ram 4 4 4 12 timings 2.10 v
3) XTX 8800GTS 512 mb ddr3 ram
4) HD321KJ Samsung Sata II 320gig

The SATA II drive doesnot and i repeat not have a problem in windows. Everytime you recieve your blew screen go straight into bios and then tell me what you see on the first screen it shows for one your sata drives and the positions please refer to user manual for postions. At the moment in my config it should show on port 2 my hd321, but sometimes it failes to find the drive.

Now you try and Put windows onto your drive.
This is were it gets critical what with all the new starts remember in bios sometimes it doesnt find the drive BIOS needs to be updated. Windows works fine untill such times as you put stress on the hard drive because then it will loose the plot somewhere.
Once you have got to that position the board then shows what its been baught for Crysis was all on hi in graffik department anti alaysing x4 and the resalution 1298 960 and it played like a dream.
I also play Battlefield 2 + BF2 special forces inclusive patch 1.41 .now the stress starts for the drive BF2 no prob BFSF2 the machine just cant handel the info a blue screens press reset and go into bios no drive wonderful. Its been like that for the month my solution is simple and not very expensive PCI e SATA II + IDE Buss card.
I hope i havent put anyone of this board for that is not my intention the board it self is a dream peace of work. Windows for once is not to blame but please the driver Dudes come on sort this conflict out.
