Question about Mitsubishi VS-60805 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Trying to get Fullscreen HD.

My new HD box is sending a fullscreen signal to the TV but the aspect ratio is only 16:9. Is there a way to activate Fullscreen HD in the DTV setting or a way to trick the TV using the DVD component setting?

How to set aspect ratio

I think you are going to find the aspect ratio is coming from the box--it determines what it will be 4x3 or 16x9 etc and cannot be varied.

sort of what you see is what you get.

Adjust resolution on lumix dmc-tz3

Select PICT.SIZE from the REC menu. Depending on the aspect ratio, you can choose from 0.3MP to 7MP. For full details, refer to the "Using REC menu" in the manual (page 52 in my copy).

You will need to go into your aspect ratio and change the settings(resolution). You probably have your settings set at 4:3

HALF OF THE SCREEN

Are you referring to the black bars that show above and below the movie? That's normal, it's called widescreen aspect ratio.

If you don't like that, you want to buy/rent fullscreen movies.

Widescreen is 6:9, fullscreen is 4:3. (Square versus rectangle)

Unable to view fullscreen in hdtv

That is the way HDTV is viewed on many screens as a wide fromat. So you will get top and bottom non-viewable areas. It is the width that gives the full imagery for that format. To have the screen filled you would get a standard 4:3 format like standard TV. HD is a 16:9 format so it is much wider.

Auto aspect ratio

Auto Aspect Ratio is a feature of the set that takes the signal in and determines if the signal is being broadcasted in 4:3 or 16:9 screen size and adjusts it automatically, you can turn it off or on in the tv's menu and either pick 4:3 (bars on the left and right side) or 16:9 (fullscreen) for no matter what signal is being broadcast

LCD tv "burn in"..

there is really no way to get rid of burn in. If you can return your set I would as the only way to fix it is with a new panel which is ver exspensive.

Fullscreen HD?

check to see if the box has a tv type setting in it's menu since I don't know what the model of the HD box is it must be in the user manual on how to set this up. it is not the tv that is the problem.

I cannot change aspect ratio

If you are trying to change the aspect ratio on the television make sure you are sending an HD signal Via Component cables. I am not aware of a way to get HD cable without a PC cable card or box, it could be that your television is not receiving the proper signal (analog, or composite) to switch the aspect ratio on your particular television.
