Nakamichi CD-45z

By Bouncy - usenet poster

Hey all,
My Nak CD-45z was just installed two days ago.  I LOVE it.  I can't even
compare it to the piece of crap Pioneer I had in there before it.  The only
problem is it doesn't play CDs!  The dealer told me that there was a recall on
some of these units and that he should have a new supply of working units in a
couple of weeks.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks,
Curtis

Hmm, have you ever heard statements from this same retailer that go
something like "They are on back order" or "They aren't shipping to
Georgia yet"  Truth be told, its more likely that he got this unit on
a 30 day account with Nak or his rep and hasn't been able to pay the
bill yet.  So he's got to pay it before he can order more product to
replace your faulty unit.  I call it smalltimedealeritis. But who
knows maybe iti's somthing else.  But I haven't heard of any recalls
from NAK.

Hey Guys and gals:

If Curtis is still reading, please advise if this was true, and what
the outcome was.  Also, was there a list of players that  were
affected? Serial number range? My Nak seems to play fine, a bit picky
about the CDs I put in though.

Thanks,
-Paul

It happens ... some decks will try an accept a CD or tape with the screw
still in place ... you'd think the big red label they usually put on the
screw would prevent it, but it doesn't always ...

We had problems with our first batch of 35Z's.  The CD would play for a
few seconds then just start skipping and freezing.  The new ones we got
are great.

How could you get that thing in with a transport screw in place?
Seems that if they didn't think about that when putting it in, I hate
to think what other problems might be lurking.

Nope.  I'm not kidding.  I put a CD in and the display reads "CD LOAD".  I put
a CD in upside down as the manual indicates that it will recognize that the CD
is inserted incorrectly and it didn't even do that.

I can't wait to hear how CDs sound in this unit, but I guess I'll have to.

Ouch, did that to my Rotel 855. Very sad day. So excited to get it
home and break it in, then the drawer wouldn't open. Only got worse
from there........

No.  He sold his last 45 to me.  He's waiting for another shipment from his
