I got a problem with my C767 laptop when i use it to run a mining software with 3D graphic visualizer function. After several minutes the program become not responding or not working properly.
My laptop is compaq presario C767TU with the spesification like you mentioned before and I attach additional 1 GB DDR2 RAM memory inside it. It's still new, I bought it 2 weeks ago to replace my broken presario V5000 that striked by thunderbolt when I operated it.
I use Windows XP Pro SP2 as the OS and AVG 8 as the antivirus and spyware.

many portable systems use an UMA design video adapter that doesn't meet the minimum hardware requirements doe 3D graphics of many games. Not much you can do but get a system with better graphics as most all portables do not have upgradable video
Try installing codecks, to play multimedia it's required to have the right codecs present, DirectX isn't requiredfor movie's, only for 3D Graphics which require the Graphic Card to do all the work.
Try installing K-Lite Mega Codeck Pack, it includes lots of codecs for multimedia. It's 100% free and legal. It comes with a small multimedia player called "M-Player Classic" which looks like the old Windows Media Player.
Based on that game list it sounds like the problem is related to hardware T&L(transform and lighting) as the games that cause the problem require T&L and the other games don't require it and their fine.
It's a start, also have tried both direct3d and opengl modes?
