Thank you for the advice, here are the minimum HW requirement of the software :

    - Computer with at least a Pentium IV processor.

    - At least 512Mb RAM.

    - DirectX compatible graphics card with at least

    64Mb on-board memory

I think this laptop has met the requirement but the display filtering still doesn't work & became unstable.

Is it caused by the unstable VGA series or shared memory?

My laptop is compaq presario C767TU with the spesification like you mentioned before and I attach additional 1 GB DDR2 RAM memory inside it. It's still new, I bought it 2 weeks ago to replace my broken presario V5000 that striked by thunderbolt when I operated it.
I use Windows XP Pro SP2 as the OS and AVG 8 as the antivirus and spyware.
Ok I'll try to download the Window washer.

    Thanks for the help.

Arif (sorry, wrong posting as Guest before)

    Hi Dean/TandN,

Yes your solution can solve the problem of graphic filtering function of my software, it's great.

but the unstability of the software is still exist after I run it more than 4-5 hours (I has ensure it in last few days, the laptop is likely overheat). After the program not responding I sould wait till the comp is cool enough then I can run the program properly again.

Perhaps there is a problem with cooling device hardware...

I am in a field duty right now so i can't bring it to HP service centre to get the repairing service.

    Thank you

The laptop video can not handle the graphics. Did you read the requirements on the mining program?

The only thing that you can try is to increase the memory and allocate more memory to the video. The NEW laptops NOW can have the video card changed out.
What O.S. and Antivirus are you using. X.P. alone takes around 256 mb of memory to just boot up. Vista needs at least 2 gigs for it to half way run. Running graphic software would take a lot more memory. You state that the requirements of the software is 512 mb of ram with a P4 processor and at least 64mb of onboard memory. What are the specs of your system? You can go into the BIOS and set the Video higher. Do this by hitting DEL or one of the F keys when it boots up.
    Is this your specs?

    1 GB RAM

    120 GB HDD

    15.4 DISPLAY

I looked that system up and found this. There are two possible laptops listed. Which one is yours?

Here is something that you can try to give the system a little more speed in case it has spyware bogging it down:

Turn the system restore off. System restore keeps
everything in restore. Meaning......... If you have spyware or a virus,
it will stay in your system. Run Spybot S&D (This program is free and
is better than using msconfig as long as you go through the settings and
change everything to the highest settings.) Then do the same with Adaware 2008
(sounds stupid to use 2 things for spyware, but one catches what the
other one does not.). I have links on my website
( These links go directly to the
download so you will not get the run around. You would do good to try a
    program called Window Washer
This is a great program that completely cleans anything in your computer that
you do not need. It will not clean out anything that you have to
have. I have used this for years to clean out my customers computers and
have cleaned as much as 3 gigs of trash out. If you contact me I will
give you some tools that I have for free that will do a great job on your
computer. I have them ready to download and I will give you the link.

Send me the complete specs of your system and I can help you more. I hope
that this helps you. There is no reason the really buy a program for
spyware when there are free things to use that work great. Free AVG is a
great Antivirus and yes it is also free. It will check your e-mail coming
and going. It will also let your friends now that the E-mail does not
have a virus. It also has a spyware program that is free. This day
and time with all of the spyware out on the net you can never have too many
programs for spyware. I would not run all of them at the same time
though. Make sure that you do not use your computer during any
scan. Defrag is also something to do after you do everything else.
Some people will tell you that should not reload your computer. If
nothing seems to work then sometimes that is the only good way to get it
repaired right. Most of the programs that come pre-installed on a store
bought computer is useless and most are even trail software that causes
problems when they expire. Let me know if this helps at all. Please
    rate me if it helps.

Try that and let me know if you get better performance out of the system. When you let me know which system you have or your specifications, I might be able to help you more. We might get the software to work. Do not give up yet.

Make sure you turn off system restore before runn ing these programs. You can turn it back on if you want to after the scans are done. System restore can be bad if it stores a virus or spyware. Run the spybot and the ADAWARE program that I
mentioned. I have also used the AVG spyware program. It is a good
program, but it does not catch all of the spyware. Spybot can catch some
things that ADAWARE can not catch. Spybot can also be used to stop things from
running at start up. It has a lot of features to be a free program.
It has a program called Tea Timer in it that can be set up to run as a Firewall
for your computer. I would not suggest using this unless you know what a
Firewall can do. A firewall is good but you can let some things get
through if you do not know how to use it. Spybot can also run on your
computer before the operating system even starts up. This is the best way
to catch spyware. Spyware can run on your computer and not get found
because your system thinks that it needs to be there. If you do use the
Spybot, install it with the custom or advanced install. Go through the
settings and set everything to the highest that you can. Do not worry
about the legal settings but tell it to keep all of your settings. Don't
let it back up the spyware because this will keep it in your system. Go
to the start up settings and shut anything down in your start up that is not
needed to run the operating system. If you are unsure of anything, do a
Google or Dogpile search and see what the program is. You also do not need MSN
Messenger,Yahoo, or any other messenger service on your start up. You
printer, the Flash Player update, Nero, or some HP programs, do not need to
start when your computer starts either. The printer will still work when
you tell it to print. Programs that are starting when your computer starts
are not needed, unless it is your Antivirus or something else protecting your
computer. You do not need all of these things in your start up, because
it slows your computer down, by running in the background. I have direct
links to these programs on my website. There are so
many different kinds of spyware that it seems that one program can't get them
all. The people writing the spyware also know that people are using these
programs. They write some things so that these programs cn'a detect
them. The people writing these programs are very smart. I have had
a problem where spyware will lock up one program and then I have to run the
other program to find the spyware. Spyware can run a vicious circle in a
computer. The Window Washer program can really clean out your computer
good. Make sure you run Defrag after you run the Window Washer. You did not mention going into the BIOS and
allocating more memory to the Video. The manual mentions that you can allocate
up to 251 mb of memory to the video. This is done in the BIOS by hitting F10 when
the system starts. Here is a copy of
    your manual in PDF format.

Keep me posted on what you do, so I can help you figure out
how to get this running better together.
I enjoy helping other people fix their computers. I do more free work than paid work. I always have and there is no reason to stop
now. You have a nice day. We will get this figured out.

Did you ever get this figured out?

  • T&N Family Electronics Dean and Sherrie Terrell

Overheating is common with ALL laptops. You need to buy a laptop cooler. If you live near a Walmart or a computer store, go pick one up. You can get a stand and put a small fan under or near the laptop also. This is what a laptop cooler is anyway. I have even put a frozen ice pack under my laptop. Never put anything over a vent hole. You do not ever want to use a laptop on a flat surface.

3d graphics and directx installation

Try installing codecks, to play multimedia it's required to have the right codecs present, DirectX isn't requiredfor movie's, only for 3D Graphics which require the Graphic Card to do all the work.

Try installing K-Lite Mega Codeck Pack, it includes lots of codecs for multimedia. It's 100% free and legal. It comes with a small multimedia player called "M-Player Classic" which looks like the old Windows Media Player.

Based on that game list it sounds like the problem is related to hardware T&L(transform and lighting) as the games that cause the problem require T&L and the other games don't require it and their fine. It's a start, also have tried both direct3d and opengl modes? Good Luck
