Question about Hitachi 50GX30B 50". Rear Projection Television

Wont start up

I just bought it and two days latter the tv quite working. it starts up acts like its going to start and then shuts off and does it again and so on. the picture always shows a black screen. please help me.

Audio shuts off after 2 minutes, no sound


It's probably Thermal Runaway' a term used when a electronic component over heats and quits working. Go to Radio Shack and buy a can of freeze spray, Take it down to where you can get to the chassis and when it goes out starting spraying components and when you get the right one the sound will pop back on/ This spray is not flammable and does not conduct electricty. The white dots indicate a problem with the optical light engine---Parts for this set are very expensive and my suggestion would be NOT to repair it but replace it.

If you want some more information Google the model with "problems" to see what the common issues are fot this set

Input feed problem


I would suggest using the AV inputs instead of the coaxial input. It looks like there might be a tuner intermittent failure but using the AV inputs bypasses the tuner.

try cleaning The air filter in your set. It may be a thermal problem due to a clogged air filter.

TV Powers off


I think the lamp cover switch is acting backwards. Should quit when the door is off, and only work when the door is on. Look closely at the cover switch and see if it is messed up somehow.

Wont turn off, goes to magic focus


enter your menu set up and turn off auto focus and see what happens then,also check your other settings while your there.
