The compressor only turn on once (GE AHH40LHG1)

The compressor only turn itself on once when I first turn the unit on. I can see condensation builds up, and water dripps down during this period.

After the compressor worked for a few minutes, it will turn itself off with the fan still blowing, which is not abnormal.

But then the compressor never comes back on again, so it only dehumidifiers a few minutes, the rest of time is just fan blowing.

What part do I need to fix it?

Thanks very much.

Before you go to fix it, what is the setting it is at? What is the tempurature of the room it is in? If the setting has been satified the unit has done it job and if it is too cold in the room it will not operate properly either.

Whirlpool AD70USR0 Dehumidfier - Our basement is extremely humid and the dehumidfier sounds and looks like its running but collects no humidity...any suggestions why?

If it is very cold some of these consumer units will not turn on the compressor. If the unit suddenly stopped working and the temperature is room temperature I would guess a refrigeration issue- either a leak or bad compressor. Make sure the "full bucket" indicator light is not on- the condensate bin may not be plugged into the unit properly.

My dehumidifier compressor runs and then shuts off, then runs and shuts off, continuously. The fan continues to run. It seems to be pulling water, though it's hard to tell how much because I have a...

Part of the problem may be that you have the humidity level set to high. The fan runs constantly to move the air around. When the unit senses a humidity level higher than what you have it set for, the compressor turns ON. Once it's ON, if the humidity level is short lived, it turns OFF.

Try setting the humidity level to the lowest possible setting. Usually, that 45%. If the humidity level in you home is higher than that, the compressor should turn ON and run until either the bucket is full or the humidity level reaches 45%. If this doesn't solve the problem, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit from the wall outlet for 12-15 minutes. Plug the unit bakc in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set the humidity level at it's lowest setting. Allow the unit to run until it cuts OFF and check the bucket for water. Hopefully that 12-15 minute time out allowed the unit to reset itself.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

When the compressor is running, should the fan also be running??

yes
whenever the compreesor is running you ned the fan to run for two reasons
1 to cool the compressor
2 to sling the condensate on to the evap to keep that from building up frost

Year 2005 cycling fan and compressor

Your unit is probably operating in defrost mode. When you use a dehumidifier in a cold room, the condensing coils can freeze water. The unit senses this and thus stops the compressor until the water frozen on the coils melts. Then it resumes its cycle. This is a problem you will have during the winter months. It makes the operation of the unit inefficient, but this is otherwise normal behavior.

LG LD65EL Dehumidifier doesn't work properly

What do you have the humidity level set at on your dehumidifier? The average is 65%. Make sure you do not have it set at 75% because if you do this could be causing it to keep the humidity so high.

Unit runs a lot. Doesn't condense much water. Sometimes fan runs alone, sometimes compressor runs alone.

You may also want to check the coils and make sure they do not have dirt or dust on them. If they are clean you may have an issue with the refrigerant level which will cause the coils not to cool properly. For that you will want to contact LG. There could be an issue with the compressor also. LG backs alot of their models with a 5 year warranty. Contact them and let them know about your issue. Make sure you still have your reciept. Here is their contact number:

Dehumidifier runs loud

What is the temperature in the space where you are operating thsi dehumidifier? When you first start a refrigerating system some refrigerant may have condensed into the compressor oil. When the compressor starts the pressure in it drops rapidly. The oil boils and some passes through the compressor valves. After a few minutes of operation this condition normally corrects itself.

Unit Runs (fan and condenser) but no water?

By condenser I assume you mean the compressor is running. Is there ice forming on the front coil?
