I don't know your particular model.

Some cameras have a safety switch, or a safety selection in the menu. Check for this.

It is also possible that the switch is defective, or there is fault on the circuit board that is causing it to not be read by the uPC. For this type of repair, you would have to have the camera serviced by the manufacture or their rep.

IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO TAKE A PHOTO FROM WHEN YOU PRESS THE BUTTON

This is a common situation with many compact point&shoot cameras. Larger and more expensive dSLRs have additional hardware that eliminates this "shutter lag".

You can eliminate much of the lag by anticipating the peak of the action. Press the shutter release button halfway to focus and meter, and hold it there until the moment, then press the shutter release button the rest of the way.

There is too much delay when I try to take a picture.

This is a common situation with most compact point&shoot cameras. The camera has to do a lot of work when you press the shutter release button: it must focus on the subject, meter the light for proper exposure, and switch the electronics from displaying on the LCD to recording the image to memory. Larger (and more expensive) cameras have additional hardware to deal with most of this, eliminating the "shutter lag."

You can reduce the lag by pressing the shutter release button halfway to focus and meter the exposure. Keep the button halfway down until the right moment and then press it the rest of the way down.

How to set timer?

Press up on the four-way controller. Use the four-way controller to select between ten-second and two-second delay. Press the shutter release button halfway to focus. Press the shutter release button all the way to start the timer.

This is from page 61 of my copy of the manual.

How do you use the self timer?

Press cursor-up and then use cursor-left/right to select the desired self-timer mode and press the OK button. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button as usual. Full details are in the "Using the Self-timer" section on page 67 of the manual.

My camera is way to slow to take a picture

If you read the reviews on A10 it has something like 1.73 seconds shutter lag, which is very slow to some other cameras with only 0.3 shutter lag. Redeuce the pixels to 6mb. Also a weak battery and maybe a under performing m.card add to your camera seem to be slower usual.

Normally there are two reasons for the given problem. 1). Bad or defective CCD. and/or 2). shutter not working. in the first case the only solution is the replacement of the CCD. and in the later case sticking of shutter blade, non functioning of shutter blade will cause the problem. This can be rectified by sending it to some repairer.
