Why does my s120 keep saying memory card write protected?

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My memory chip says its right protected and I can?t put anything on it or remove anything. The little switch on the side is in the unlocked position and still nothing. I can?t reformat it either to clear...

Connect it to a Computer, the right click on it and then click on Properties. Then you will find a Check mark on the option Read Only, uncheck the option and click on Apply and Ok.
If that does not work it can also be an issue of Virus..

Chip wont format

there is a little white tab to the left hand side of the disk (as you look at te label side), slide it to the opposite direction of where it is, and try again.

The Write protection tab is in the lock position - it needs to be unlocked to transfer anything to it.

Turn off write protection on a sd micro card

If you are using it with the SD adaptor, the swith at the side marked lock is not to secure the micro sd card within the adaptor. This is the write protection. If you set this to the 'unlocked' position (up) then you should be able to write files onto it!

Memory card is write protected

thought the cards have a little tab on them so they can be "write protected" it is a little plastic tab on the side of the memory1.gif card you slide up and down. I know most SD cards1.gif have it, CF cards dont so if its anything besides SD memory its probobly the memory card or some little switch or somthing in the camera that tells the camera when the card is in the "Locked" or "Write protected" mode.

Looking at my SD memory cards1.gif they have a little arrow on the edge and they say "Lock" pointing down, the slider is up. Move yours both ways, maybe it has a bad connection in the card (im not sure what it actualy does) or its in a position the camera thinks its locked?
