I have installed a converter box we have a rooftop antenna, now I cannot record, it does not seem to find channel 9.1, 12.1 etc only 9, 12 etc I went from antenna to converter to DVD MWR10D6 to TV. My tv...

If you have the converter connected to the recorder by composite or s-video(line inputs), you will need to specify which jacks from within the setup menu of the recorder. There are 2 sets of line inputs into the recorder, so you have to select the right ones. They are called L-1 and L-2. The L-1 jacks are in the rear and the L-2 jacks are in the front. The channel selection should also be on L-1 or L-2. If you are using the
RF input(fat cable) to the recorder, you should have the recorder on the channel number that matches the output of the converter (channel 3 or 4). The converter RF output is selected by a switch in back of the converter or by the setup menu of the converter.

Menu path for setting L-1 or L-2 inputs:
Setup > General Setting > Video > Video Input > L-1 or L-2 > Video In or S-Video In

With the new HD transfer. We just have atenna...we just bought a HD TV. Is there a way of connecting the DVD Recorder so I can watch one channel and tape another with this new system

A lot of your question depends on your DVD recorder, but there IS a way to connect them so you can watch one channel and record another one.

First - if you have an HD compatible DVD recorder (one that will allow you to select channel 8, 8.1, 8.2, etc) then you could simply split your antenna signal BEFORE the TV or DVD recorder. Then you can select one channel to watch on your TV while selecting and recording a different channel on the DVD recorder. If your DVD recorder is connected to your TV's Video Input, you should be able to monitor DVD recorder's activity by selecting the "Video Input" on your TV.

If you DON'T have an HD DVD recorder, then you will need to get a converter box to put between the Antenna signal and the DVD recorder. You can then set the converter box to the channel you want and the DVD recorder can be set to record it.

Vcr hooked to tv and converter box. Will not record digital chann

The vcr has to be set to channel 3 or 4. The converter box has to set to the channel you want to record the show from and left on during the time that the vcr is recording or you will get no recordings.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

Can play video, but can't record

Have you tried to record your channels with the converter switch set to antenna?

In otherwords;
Step 1. With your converter switch set to converter mode select the Direct tv channel you wish to record.
Step 2. With your converter switch set to antenna press the record button on your DVD Recorder.

Step 3. Switch your converter switch to converter mode.

I hope that you find this solution helpful.

DVD and the new converter box

Lorrie47, Need more info to help you. YRU trying to connect any A//V cables to the HDConverterbox to your DVD player? Can you plug the DVD player into the widescreen HDTVset or do you have old NTSC TV set like I do? I haven't even been to Circuit City, Sam's Club, or BestBuy to see what kinds of connectors are on those HD Tuner/Converter Boxes. Is the converter box u have equipted w/yellow(video), red(right), White(left) analog signal in's and out's? If the new HDTVconverter box has BASEBAND in's and out's then the installation/owners manual should have directions for their proper use. In any case you need to be more specific on what you are trying to accomplish. Tell me, does TV set stay on channel 3 , and never ever changed to chan22 or 51 or 8. Its always set to ch3?
Is it possible that maybe TV set has baseband (yellow, red, white) in's and out's on rear of cabinet? Now here are some rules to follow. Outputs must go to inputs. and colors must match. I assume that the HDTV tuner/converter box has a infrared remote control to do channel change and vol/up/dn and possiblly other things like switching of sources. does the manual say anything about AUX A/V inputs that can be used? Hpoe this has been of some use to U. I'm Louie12fix can be emailed @ this:

I cannot record using a DVD/VHS player.

You can record. From antenna to converter box, from converter box to vcr. From vcr to TV.
TV on Channnel 3 VCR on channel 3, and set channel on converter box. Then Record.

Time recording works the same way, but you can set for only one channel at a time. Tht is the only restriction that I have not overcome. The converter box sets the channel. Gee Whizz
