I do not think you fixed the CMOS battery - (backup battery = CMOS battery) According to the error codes, you have a dead backup battery and the time is not set. Makes sense? 161
(Dead battery.) 1. Go to Checking the Backup Battery
2. Backup battery.
3. System board.
163
(Time and date were not set.) 1. Set time and date.
2. System board.

hope this will help.

Date and time error in new laptop

Hello Bhavathrini, have you tried changing it manually? What operating system are you using, exactly?

If you say that the laptop keeps showing errors and does not execute any tasks, your operating system could be a victim of viruses. You should try and update your antivirus solution, or get one if you don't already have one.

Best of luck!

My time & date stops. Have to reset them everytime.

Computers use a button type battery to keep the internal clock running when powered off. It's time to open it up and replace the button battery ;-)

Everytime we boot up our computer it says press f1 to do something and f2 to enter setup mode?

generally an indication that something is wrong in the system setup. Press F2 and enter setup, check the time and date settings and the system event log (If BIOS has one) for incorrect settings, also check and see if the BIOS shows a hard drive installed.

If time and are wrong, set them to correct and save settings. If system keeps losing time and date after power is removed, then the backup battery may need to be replaced.

If HDD is not detected, then reseat it. If still not detected replace it.

The BIOS battery keeps the Date and Time correct, if the battery is flat the date and time will be wrong or you will get an error date and time error.
You need to replace the battery with a new one. Your friendly computer shop can help you if you don't know how to change the battery.

On my Toshiba Satellite A105 on the right side makes a noise if I try to open more than 1 web page at a time. I recently rebooted my complete system due to a fatal error message as per Toshiba directions....

Hi,
That is the CMOS battery.
This battery keeps the internal date and time, you only need to change this battery if your machine cannot keep the date and time.
As for the noise can you describe it?

Regards.

Inspiron laptop clock incorrect

Go into the BIOS by turning on the laptop and pressing F2. In there i believe on the main screen you can change the time and date. Do that, save changes and exit and then go into windows and see if it keeps the right time and date.

Let me know how it goes.

The battery that might be dead is not the main battery. It's the cmos battery, which is a coin cell battery located on the motherborad. It stores the setting in the bios and keeps the date and time accurate. Errors 161 and 163 mean the date and time are wrong. If the cmos battery is dead then, the date and time go back to 1/1/2000 every time the pc is restarted. Thus, you get the "wrong date and time" errors 161 and 163.
