Hi, Before jumping into a conclusion that your computer is infected, please check if you have programs like Strongvault, Wajam installed. They will give you popups. If not use the following tool from McAfee to scan for suspicious files in the computer. McAfee Getsusp
On the 2nd Tuesday of every month, Microsoft releases a free tool to address virus infections. The tool is called Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. It is usually downloaded in an infected computer's hard drive but if this cannot be done, the tool can be loaded into a USB stick or thumbdrive on another computer then inserted into the infected computer's USB port to be run. Microsoft also has online tools to scan and remove malware. For more information and download go to .... http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx
You are going to need to run an antivirus program that runs before the operating system starts..if you can, try going online on another computer to search for a program called VBA Rescue..this program loads LINUX into your computer and them searches and destroys the virus' . I have had much success with this program as worms are very hard to remove...I wouldn't even try to run your laptop as you may cause unrepairable damage to the laptop..if you need additional assistance...you can email me at email@example.com
On another computer, you need to have a flash drive or cd to burn a donloaded program to. I believe that system is infected with a worm or virus and needs to be disinfected. Go to the link below and download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Tool. Run the program, let it update and run. It will perfrom a quick scan, that is all you need....it will then list all the infections it finds and will ask you to "Show Results" when it is finished. Click on "Show Results" and then click on Remove Selected, that will erradicate all infections and the system will be clean. You will then and should run a complete virus scan. Schedule that for boot up so the windows files can be scanned as well.
Your system is infected by virus or worm or trojans. Presence of spyware, malware or adware could be the problem too. A system usually infected with such illwares are slow as they takes up the system resource.
Virtual memory is a part of hard disk which act as a secondary RAM. It usually resides in system drive in hidden mode and it is called "pagefile.sys".
I think you don't need to increase the size of your Virtual Memory as the Operating System automatically set the size at the time of installation.
You just scan the system with a good Antivirus or any Internet Security suite with their latest updates installed.
I recommend "Kaspersky Internet Security 2010" or "A-Squared Anti-Malware". Both can detect virus and other malware too.
This will completely solve your problem.
Note: Don't forget to update your Operating System too with microsoft updates if you are using Microsoft products.
If its possible to burn disc, back the essential data first. Dont use flash memory/USB device for this purpose. Virus spreads though them easily.
If the infection is small, u might be able to install some good antivirus software like McAfee or Kaspersky [my suggestion] and do a complete scan.
If the antivirus virus fails, the only way out is to re install the operating system. Backup the data first...
After reinstallation u still need antivirus software. Donot open any drives further. Install it from a CD. then erase all drives except C drive[where u installed ur OS]- full erase by right clicking on the drive icon and selecting format option [dont perform quick erase] Then do a scan to remove any malicious items...
Read this again b4 u proceed. All the best... Hope this helped
its simple guys..!!! if it asks for permission to access outlook..don't permit it because it is a smart virus and is going to spread it to all the people on your contact list...!!! simply open task manager and end process tree of KHATRA.exe , gHost.exe , xplorer.exe and OUTLOOK.exe seperately...!! then run your anti virus or download one if you don't have one..!!! run a complete computer scan in detail..!! then delete all files which are infected by the virus because the results contain only duplicate files which are created by the virus
