My computer's on and off button fell off so I have been turning it on with the button behind the regular button. This little black button has the cords right behind it it was working fine for a few months, bet now it doesn't want to turn on; sometimes when I hold the cords together it does turn on so I was wondering if you can tell me where I can buy that button with the cords for my computer??

goto google enter "compact presario drivers" click on link to HP Support and drivers. once there, enter your product name/number. it should show you a list of all drivers available for your model. download your audio driver and reload it to your laptop. sometimes drivers get currupt and dont work right. hope this helps...good luck
you may have damaged the computer if it fell as you say. As for installing windows Xp that should not be a problem did you download driver first and burn a CD. If not get on another computer and donwload driver for your laptop burn them on a CD then install your drivers for XP that way you have the right drivers and it should work if not damaged inthe fall.

My 6000 also died in a thunder storm with power surges. Power seems to be coming in to the cord, but the ON/OFF button on the front does not turn the computer on. Totally black screen, with no response. Hoping for help too.
try to start the computer and right after that press the delete key several times as it try's see if u can get into the system bios if so change everything to a default level make sure you pres the f10 to save all info and try to reboot if this doesnot work please let me know good luck
My power button fell off as well. Where can buy a new button?
