Question about Televison & Video

The laser lens of the DVD Player in my Home Theater system is died. It does not throw any light. Is there any way to change the lens or only change the DVD player unit in the home theater system? My Home theater system is Philips HTS3400. I'm pretty happy with its receiver the only bothering thing is: its DVD Player . It is not in warranty now and service charge is more than its original value. Please suggest how can I change DVD Player unit only from my home theater system.

This happend to me before on a toshiba 2 disk dvd changer it i searched on the net for lasers but it was about 30 to 40 dollars i got lucky and found a single disk toshiba in a trash and dicided to have a look i opened both and they looked the same so i swapped it out and it worked my suggestion is if its an old player and u have a little money scrap it u can buy a cheap walmart brand for about 30-40 dollars and if ur a home theater freak and have hdmi ports on your tv and if your tv is 1080p the get an upconvert dvd player which tranforms your standard dvd to 1080p which is a way better than regular dvd but not as good as blue ray

I have an hts 3100 philips home theater dvd player it plays some dvd's and some others not(coming the message no disc) Can you help me about it?Why does this happen?

Hi, is your DVD player anew one?if yes the lens that makes the CD play is not OK.But if it's an old one, you can get DVD lens cleaner toclean up the lens of the DVD player...

It's the problem of dirt inside the DVD player especially the lens area.

After cleaning up the lens and still does not play, you will need to replace the DVD player lens with anew one..

You can go to the nearest repair outlet for replacement of the lens ...

Hope you understand..

Take care...

I have the RTD317w model Sometimes when we try to play a DVD we get an error msg-i take the DVD out and clean it-sometimes after several tries it will play-also sometimes after this the DVD will stop in...

Hi,

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

Good luck.

How to clean DVD player on Sony DAR-x1R

If you mean the laser on the dvd, then easiest way is buying a lens cleaning disc, that is a dvd disc with little brushes imbedded in the disc that cleans the laser lens while you play the dvd. cheap, and easier than dismantling the machine,

THE CD PLAYER STOPS AFTER ABOUT 2O MINS any idea why

Check the laser lens inside the unit - inspect it for dirt or dust. Clean with "Q" tip and alcohol. If the problem persists, the laser might be going out. Check the lens to verify it moves up and down. Check the lens to observe a red beam. If these processes do not occur - the laser is bad.

No DVD is playing and says disc error all times. The same DVD plays on my computer. I have tried many DVDs and the same error everytime

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load DVD's. The weak lens is also what's making it say disc error.

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all DVD's with no problem at all.

Good luck.

Will not play dvd s

I guess, this happens with every CD/DVD player - and the root reason is fine grain sticky dust on the lens + backlash of laser driver motor.

Please take this as a general guideline:
If possible, open the DVD player - not all DVD players are designed to have quick access to lens - however you can try.

Get a micro-fibre lens cleaning cloth - do not use any fluid - be very very gentle, while wiping the lens - and I am quite sure you will see dirts in the microfibre cloth.

I did so for 2 of my DVD players, one was bit expensive one from ONKYO - even with visual inspection, the lens looks shining and no dirt, when I rubbed [very gentle rubbing] with micro-fibre cloth [I got from Pro Camera/Photography shop - as lens cleaner] - I got good results.

DVD player not playing DVD's

Yes. The laser lens in your player is dirty or failing. To fix your problem, try the following solutions: Clean the laser lens with a DVD player lense cleaning disc. Lense cleaning discs are available at many electronics retail stores.
