My iP 5000 showed me the error code 5C00!
I browsed the net and found the following cheap idea:
I slid the cartrige holder to the left and looked for any misplaced particles or paper fragments,- none were there, very clean, I then pressed the "resting pad", where the cartridge usually sits downwards carefully for about 1/3 of an inch approximately. I connected to power again and printer beagn to readjust itself and calibrate. It then started back to normal, only the black cartridge needed seroius cleaning!
Best regards Wolfhard

This error is normally associated with a supplies error. I have extracted information on this error from the HP 6L manual.
Error Codes Error 10 - Supplies Memory Error 10.XX.YY Exact format is dependent on printer modelThe printer is unable to read the electronic information (elabel) on the print cartridge. This helps track page count and life of consumable. XX Description 00 memory error on the cartridge or 01 memory device not found 10.00.00 Black print cartridge 10.00.01 Cyan print cartridge 10.00.02 Magenta print cartridge 10.00.03 Yellow print cartridge
Supplies used in newer printer models contain a memory chip. The information contained on this chip is dependent on the printer model and the supply. The error 10 indicates a problem with the printer obtaining the information from this chip. The chip may be missing or defective or contain incorrect information. There may be a problem with connection between the memory chip and DC controller. Turn the printer off/on to attempt to clear or reset the message. Remove and reinstall the supply, replace the supply.
Replace the memory chip cable/connector or the DC controller. How did we do?

The HP4700 Printer
The HP 4700 is a family of color LaserJet printers intended for use by work groups and small offices. The printer itself differs little from model to model with accessories including wireless printing options and various paper tray configurations.
Error Code 'Service Error 49.2'
According to the user manual, 49.X error codes mean, "a critical firmware error has occurred." Firmware is Software that ties to specific hardware components. While occasionally this means hardwired programming, installed drivers often feed programming and instructions to modern devices.
Correcting the Error
Firmware errors can often be corrected by turning the device off and on again. If this fails to correct the issue, reinstalling the driver software may correct the problem. If the problem persists, HP technical support should be contacted.

If your getting this "FUNCTION..." error on the computer screen this is a problem with the print queue, your printing software, or the print driver; not an issue with the printer itself. You will need to uninstall and reinstall the software and driver and if printing USB, remember to change which USB port you use before reinstalling the printer.
Check printer status it has to on "ready" status, then again try to print a demo page located on your printer settings that you don't need to have computer connected. if you can print demo page that you know printer is working fine then again you only have to try for PC connectivity and drivers. if you can print demo page trough printer replug USB still if its not working try to reinstall drivers.
