My washer is about 5 years old and is now doing the same as described. It will start to wash and then when it goes to drain it cuts out then back on etc. I have turned it off and waited over night then did rinse-spin and it worked fine. Tried to do a small load and after awhile it started cutting out again. Tried to do rinse-spin or just extra spin, kept cutting in and out. Waited over night and it went through the rinse- spin. Repair person said it is either the pump or some kind of cellinoid valve. He said he fixed another machine that was doing the same thing. He is suppose to come on Monday. Will let you know what happens.

I put a new machine controller board in it last night as you
recommended and it has washed many loads flawlessly since. My wife
says it runs smoother. Considering that it is not a standard drive
motor, but is controlled with speed and direction, I suppose that is
possible --anyway she thinks it's as good as new.

Something I noticed on the new version of the machine controller is
that the flood switch is no longer used. There is a jumper on the
board in place where the connector used to be. That sensor must have
been more trouble than it was worth.

As far as thinking that the problem was the motor controller board, I
was totally in agreement with you that it should have been the faulty
part. In other words, no hard feelings here. And it will be going back
    shortly for a refund.

Thank you so very much for your help with the calypso. I hope to have
it for another 7 years of good service.

My highest regards to your trouble shooting abilities and also your
patience. And my wife also sends her thanks --that's really special.

    To Master_Tech,

I am new to this and hope I am posting this right. The repair person came and replaced the inlet valve assembly. Each valve had a selenoid switch attached to it. He put it on the Normal cycle and said to let it run through the cycle and left. At 24 min it started to go on and off. There was no water in the tub and none would come in. He came back and worked on it while having a Whirlpool tech on the phone. They could not get it to work. They said they would get back to him in about 5 days! My email is Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks

My the front load washer model gcvh6900jww has the red lock on the display. I accidentally held the start button for a few seconds and it locked. I tried holding the start button again for up to 20 seconds...

  1. Found This HelpfulSometimes something will go wrong in your washing machine that will cause it to lock up or stall. An overloaded washer or a brief power surge can cause this. The washer may not drain or spin properly, or it may stop the cycle in the middle of the wash. Another cause may be that the washer was stopped before the cycle was able to complete. In this case, the washer will spin and drain over the next 24 hours, but it will stall before reaching the final spin. GE has two simple methods to reset the controls
For Newer Washers:
    • 1 Unplug the washer.
    • 2 Twist the control dial around the cycle settings.
    • 3 Place the dial on any setting other than the final spin.
    • 4 Ensure that the water line is securely attached to the washer.
    • 5 Plug the washer back into the wall (making sure it has gone at least 30 seconds without power).

Washer agitates, drains OK, but spin doesn't start

Timer is defective. Your unit has a netural drain. When finished agitating, the shuts down and then starts up reversing to drain and spin. On the initial reverse start, the water drains without the transmission spinning. After a timed period 3-4 minutes, the timer is supposed to pause, stopping the motor for a few seconds. When the motor stops again, the transmission shift to the spin cycle and when the timer resumes power tothe motor it should spin. You are doing the same thing when you lift the lid...stopping the timer and then the tranny shifts and when you set the lid down, the washer spins. Replace the timer.......

My washer would fill/drain ok but would not agitate or spin. I unplugged the washer and listened for the motor to click. When the motor clicked I plugged the washer back in. Then I opened and closed the lid 10 times. I turned the washer to the drain/spin position and turned it on. The belt moved back and forth several times and then went into a fast spin.

Kenmore model #110.22802100 drains but no spin

If it is draining, then the motor is ok.
If it is agitating properly, then the motor coupler is ok.
This leaves the gearcase, clutch, basketdrive(brake), basket drive block, or timer.

Raise the lid and hold the lid switch down. Start a rinse cycle and let it go through the cycle. It should drain the water, then stop the motor for a split second then kick the motor back in and start spinning. If it doesn't drop out that split second then the timer is holding it in neutral drain. You can recreate this by letting it start draining, then let off the lid switch, then depressing it again. The basket should start spinning. If not,

Raise the lid and hold the lid switch closed. Start it in spin and see if you can get it started spinning by hand. If so you probably have a slipping clutch.
Post back with any questions.
You can go to, click on parts, and enter your model number and see parts diagrams of the washer. This can be helpful.
