Hey VY555,
I'm sure it's possible to replace the flash on your camera, but it should be done by an authorized service technician. You could bring it to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store and they can send it out to get serviced. Without and authorized service technician looking at the camera and diagnosing what is wrong with it I would not be able to give you an estimate on the repair cost. I will say that with digital camera repairs it is often more expensive to repair than replace the camera. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Red light display with SB

The flashing red light indicates that the camera's flash is charging.
Your electronic flash does not work on the low voltage supplied by the camera's battery. Instead, the battery is used to charge a capacitor(s) that are connected in a manner that raises the voltage to a level that will fire the flash. If the batteries are not adequately charged or the capacitor(s) are leaking, which will occur as they age, enough voltage will not be stored to allow the flash to fire.
Make sure your batteries are fully charged. Remember, rechargeable batteries do go bad after time and must periodically be replaced.
If the battery is fully charged and the red light continues to flash, the camera will need to be sent in for repair (probably replacement of the capacitor(s)). Call the Nikon Service Center at 1-800-645-6687 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday, and they can arrange for you to have your camera evaluated and provide you with an estimate without cost. Your camera is rather old and it is possible that it might make more sense to replace it with a new model.

How much would it cost to repair a flash on a

there are 3 possibilities : 1. the micro contact on the back of pop up flash is dead 2. a hi voltage coil is bun out 3. a transistor is burned out.
In all that cases I charge 15 to 25 USD but the shipping cost to Romania is to expensive if you are outside of UE. Check your post office the shipping cost and if you think is worth to repair the camera , contact me to dragos_adrian_ro@yahoo.com

Sounds to me like your flash blub is blown. You should be able to get it replaced if its still under warranty, If not it will cost around €50.

Flash setting doesn't work

Does your camera gave a small battery in place somewhere that is used to maintain the date and time settings? (it is generally a watch battery type small flat silver disk.) You should not have to reset time and date after each battery change.

Many digital cameras eat up batteries quickly, especially when using the flash alot., that is why it is important to use good quality rechargeables whenever possible.

Vivitar ViviCam V8300 Digital camera the flash does not work! I have tried the menu in all flash modes, but still does not work, I believe the flash tube must be "blown", if this is so, can this...

I think it can be replaced.I don't know anything about the cost, but it shouldn't be that expensive, though. If you can fing a similar broken camera ..you could remove the flash from it and try and fix it to your camera. Cheers!

Olympus Camedia C-4000 Flash Problems.. Help Please!

The flash is malfunctioning and causing the camera to not work, the flashing lights in the viewfinder is the camera indicating the malfunction. Most likely it is a board that needs repair and that'll cost a flat rate minimum $160 from OLY.

This sounds like to short or a capacitor failure. The likely cost of repair if at all possible will not a economicx. Best to write it off.

No flash pictures

by dropping you can damage the charging circuit of the flash unit. flash tube is the later part. it seems that the charging circuit of the camera is not working thus it hangs the camera when flash is switched on.
