Hello!

First check with your voip service provider that they supports T.38 over SIP.

For sending fax you have to enable T.38 (fax protocoll) support in the pap2 webui.

On your fax machine set data speed to 14.400 kb.

But anyway T.38 (fax) over voip is not a waterproof solution, it can only guarantee delivery for about 85 to 95 % of sent\ recived fax's.
Make shure you have a good, fast and stable connection (try pinging the sip server ip). If it doesnt try another fax machine (f.ex Brother or xerox). If that dosent work, and you still have to get a fax service, try a online fax to mail, mail to fax solution (search google).

I can provide more detailed information and how to's if needed.

I have installed Skype 3.8 and d-link driver 1.01 on Windows xp. I can select the device from the audio setting but receive no dial tone. Please assist!

In your VoIP monitor settings there are two options to make your phone connect to voip. You either have to dail # # or # *. I would try hitting pound twice, but it's kind of tricky because sometimes when the dlink tries to connect it will flip back and forth between voip and pstn. So I recommend holding the phone to your ear and hitting # until you hear that dial tone!

Connecting VOIP device without having any router, but wifi intern

hi yvo2000. Sorry, you cant do that. That router (well, the SPA2102) needs a cable from your neighbor's router in order to provide internet to the POTS jacks. Please don't forget to rate my answer if it helped you. Thank you :D

Cisco IP Phone 7940 and 3com nbx as 3rd party SIP phones

Here are the instructions for configuring these units for 3cx

Since the 3cx softphone worked well, I don't see why you couldn't configure each as for 3cx and make them work as well.

You must have a voip router from your voip phone company (vonage,t-mobile). It should not work at all unless you have one of these devices. Hope this helps

Voip problems

Hello, there are several reasons too this, but the most common ones is:

- You have maxed out your bandwith.
Solution: Limit download and upload from filesharing. (need 256kBs free both ways to perform a good qualtiy voip call). Turn of web radios, webcams, video streaming. Encrypt wireless network

- Your Voip service provider cant keep alive registrasion link between their server and your voip device.
Solution: assuming you have both a modem and router, try to connect voip device directly to modem, if problem is solved you should try to upgrade firmware in router or by a new one (pref: Linksys). If problem still occures you should try to contact your broadband provider and get them to do a 24hr scan for datapackage loss on your connection (if they find datapackage loss, then its their job to fix the problem). If none of this works conntact your voip service provider and get them to send you a new voip device.

This is not a final solution, but it shold be a good guide to start with. i can give you much more detailed support on this issue, but then i need more details to analyse the problem further.

greetings

Communication problems over IP phone

I have found many possible causes. Firmware Levels Outdated firmware in routers, VOIP phones, Firewalls, etc. can cause one-way audio. Ensure you have the latest updates for all the devices in the call path. Configuration Particularly if NAT is involved in the call path, configuration of the various devices may be a problem. Check to see if all devices are configured appropiately for your envioronment. Has anything changed, carriers harware, quos settings on router ? packet loss to these locations should be tested @ time it happens most, don't use it as gospel retur, ttl and re-xmits' do same.. Bob Finding the Cause The basic troubleshooting technique is to use a tool like Ethereal to capture SIP and RTP packets at each point in the call path where packets could be lost. Interperting the resulting captured packets requires some familarity with how networking and VOIP work. For example if the call path is: VOIP phone/device ---- firewall ---- sip proxy ---- firewall ---- asterisk Troubleshooting Steps Start capturing at point Make a VOIP call that will have one-way audio Analyze capture If problem found, fix and retest Otherwise move capture point to the next point (a, b, c, d, etc) and start over If the problem is intermittent, then a long term simultanous capture at multiple points can be used to attempt to capture a comple call with the problem. Most capture tools will let you capture only traffic from selected devices, so the volume of captured information can be kept to a reasonable size. If a back-to-back SIP user agent (for example a Session Border Controller ) is part of of the call path, then it may be necessary to capture all VOIP traffic at some points to ensure catching the wanted call since the IP addresses can change when traversing this device.
