Question about Bose in-ear headphones - Black with black/white cord

1 Answer

Bose in-ear headphone cord cut

Hi,

I have a set of bose in-ear headphones and the cord is broken. The break is between the right in ear headphone and the place where the two wires become one. I stripped off wire from both sides and connected them. I get sound from the left phone (no break), but no sound from the right phone. Any ideas?

Thanks

I have bose around ear headphones and the covering of cord has been stripped away near the audio jack, exposing the wires, and I only receive sound out of one ear.

    What should I do?

I just bought the headphones and was trying out the different inserts when the sound started to fade. Then went out completely. I don't know what happened.

Most head phones there two wires. those are the two that you most likly put together. if there is any metel mesh covering the wires. that has to be connected also.

How to replace ear cushion on bose QC 3 headphone

The ear cushions are held on the earcup with six snap fasteners, three on each side. To remove the ear cushion, simply pull it away from the earcup carefully so that you do not break the plastic snap tabs.

It should not be necessary to pry the ear cushion off with a sharp object, but if you do, be careful. There is also a thin gasket seal between the earcup and the ear cushion, take care not to damage it.

If you need to replace the ear cushions with new ones, they are available from Bose for $35/pair.

Riley, it could be that the membrane on the cone of the speaker is damaged, if that were the case, then you will have to replace the headset with a new one; also check the wiring to the speaker there may be a bad connection to the speaker, if that is the problem, it can be solved by soldering the connection back to the the speaker. you can also squeeze the cord starting from the bottom and slide your fingers up the cord, listen through the headphones for any break inn signal, if that happens, cut the wire and re-splice the wire and tape the wiring with electrical tape. good luck.

Could be possibly dirt in Ipad headphone jack (common prob) - put a drop of isopropyl alcohol in Ipad jack - just a drop. You might also check headphones in a computer jack to verify if it is possibly the headphones.

The left side of my bose earphones is working perfectly but the right side just went completely dead is there any way to fix this?

in most cases this is a broken wire issue and it can not be fixed unless you know where the trouble is exactly ..The fix will be to locate the break ..and tide it back ..but if it is a fine wire piece you will not be able to do much ..

It only works on on ear.

You may a poor mating of the jack and the plug. This could be an issue of size and shape or a bit of dirt or something making it not seat properly in the radio. A damaged wire would be also be a suspect; your hand would give a bit of conductivity around a break.

First, I'd check the audio device paperwork for the specs on the jack and make sure you have the right plug and try cleaning any dirt off/out of the jack. Since the Bose headphones do not have a swappable cord (at least the ones I have don't), if you suspect a broken cord, check if your unit is under warranty. If the headphones are out of warranty, you could consider opening up the unit and soldering in a new cord.

I hope this helps.

(the Bose headphones in my house came with a number of adapters. it was easy to pick up the wrong one at times once they got mixed up.)
