Question about Westinghouse LTV-32w3 HD Television

2 Answers

Picture quality I have had a Westinghouse LTV-32w3 HD TV for about a year and a half and within the past month or so it has developed a picture quality problem. The problem is it produces green sparklies throughout the screen but are particularly noticeable in darker parts of the picture. They appear and disappear randomly like they are blinking off and on. There are also blotching of colors on faces on the screen. Hope this info will help to diagnose the problem. Thanks N. Unck

I have almost the same problem, except the distortion is red. When I watch a show or movie that is really dark, the whole screen is pretty much blood red. Eventually turns off after about half an hour, almost as if the unit has to warm up or something. Unplugged it, for about 30 minutes to reset it, nothing. Moved the cable/router unit and put the cable straight from the wall to the TV, nothing. No one from Westinghouse has gotten back to me.

Ours has the exact same problem, the blotchy distortion is red. The defined images are covered by a red glow, not just an overall indistinguishable red screen. Sometimes stops after awhile as if the unit had to warm up more, but then returns. Sometimes helps to reboot it, sometimes not. No cable/router unit nearby, and sometimes it doesn't do it at all for hours; so it seems to be an actual internal processing issue. Would be glad to take or send it to be repaired or pay reasonably for replacement/upgrade to newer design, but no response from emails to Westinghouse at all. IF they had a better service response we'd even replace with another Westinghouse since it had great image quality until it got out of warranty & began to malfunction... Best solution? unfortunately - Avoid Westinghouse products! Any other ideas for those of us stuck with one of these 'you can be sure' turkeys???

I have exactly the same problem. Colors I have seen so far include red, green, and cyan. Sometimes it becomes so severe that nearly the whole screen becomes red, and then all of a sudden all the disturbing dots disappear and the screen goes back to normal. I'm still looking for a solution, or a new TV

My problem seems to be with the white color. After a while, the white color drops out to an aqua blue color, sometimes pink too. No rhyme or reason to it. Then it goes away, then comes back, etc.

The colors become distorted with pink, red, greens and it looks as if someone has spilled different colors of paint and they all run together. You cannot make out the figures at sometimes.

I had the same problem before. I had my wireless router really close to the tv. I relocated the router, and the problem never came back.

If everything but the HDMI is working, its a possibility that the source has a compatibility issue or your TV needs a software/firmware update needed

Problems with ltv-32w3 hd After TV is on for 15 to 30 minutes the picture looks fuzzy and looks like a picture negative but still has color

You need to replace the LCD controller board, there are two versions (V320B1-C, 35D003848) you need to open up the tv and remove the shield cover to get to the LCD controller board, this is a common problem with this model. Look here parts (make sure to get the part number of the LCD panel sticker to match wit the LCD controller): http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=LTV-32W3HD&stock=all

You cam see the one I fixed here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LTV-32W3HD/

Notes: be real careful when you remove the back cover, the side switch assembly is attached to the back panel, so do not pull it off too far, or you will damage the switch assembly!

I am having problems with my Westinghouse LTV-32w3 HD TV. If flickers and rolls kind of like the old tube tv used to roll and you would have to adjust it in the back by turning the nob. I have a 37 inch...

The LCD controller is bad, after about on for 30 minutes, see sample here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LTV-32W3HD/
Notee: my pix show the board with the cover removed. You can run the TV with the back open and have s small fan blowing in the back to keep it cool.
You need new LCD controller (there are more than one version, you need to match with the LCD panel): http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=ltv-32w3hd&stock=all

The atsc or qam tuner in your Westinghouse LTV-32W3 HDTV is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately you will need to purchase a new mainboard since it is integrated. Another option is to return to using an external tuner like your cable box.
