Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I just bought Roxio Decoder for Windows Vista. It's the download version for my laptop, so I canwatch movies I download...Now my computer is fast, and I did everything right. I put in the serial #, and it accepted it. It downloaded it, then it told me to restart my computer, for it to take affect. I did, and I don't see The Roxio Decoder in my compuder, anywhere. But, I went to download it again, and it says it's already in the computer, and to go to "add/remove programs", in control panel. I looked for it there, it's not listed! I can't find it anywhere. I'm kinda mad, cuz I want to watch some Disney movies with my 4 yearold, and she is sleeping, now. After waiting for 2 hours. There s no phone 3 to comtact Roxio???

Dvd DOES NOT PLAY MOVIES AND UNABLE TO LOAD GAME SOFTWARE

The standard version has Windows Vista® Home Basic Edition SP1. This version do not have native support for decoder to watch DVD movies. Install a good DVD player like WinDVD or any other DVD player software. This will install the necessary decoder. Once this is done even if the installed trial version expire, your windows media player will still play the movies. However, if you like the software, make it fully licensed version on-line. Hope this helps.

I need driver for HP DVD RW UJ-840 for laptops

Why do you think that you need a "driver"?

Windows XP and Vista and 7 have "built-in" support for CD/DVD readers.

If you installed HP's version of Windows, you would have installed some software to play DVD movies (PowerDVD? CyberDVD?), and some software (Sonic? Roxio?) that enables you to write to DVD-recordable media.

I have a windows vista basic laptopwhat version

Depends on what computer you have. Different Manufacturers package different software. Look in your programs for Roxio or Cyberlink or Nero. It should already be installed if it's a name brand computer. Good Luck.

My windows media player wont play movies

Try downloading VLC player, if this does not play your videos then it is your Drive that needs a driver update or has gone bad. If VLC player does play it or asks you to install mpeg2 codecs, then all you need to do is google "mpeg2 codec download for windows media player X" (X being the current version of WMplayer you are using). The reason behind this problem is that Windows media player does not come preloaded with a full library of codecs, there are packages of codecs that you can download such as divx codecs that will have the majority of commonly used video compression decompressors.

Roxio creator 2009 burning issues

Here's a few things you can try:

1.) Download Service Pack 3 for Creator 2009. This updates the software and is recommended.

http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/c2009/software_updates.html

2.) Update your CD/DVD burner drives. This can be done by going to the manufacturers website and checking for updates. (Ex: If you purchased your computer from Dell and it came with a built in burner, you'd check Dell.com for updates.)

3.) Update the PX Engine. This is Roxio software that communicates with the CD/DVD burner drives.

4.) If all else fails, try visiting this KB article:

Error Message:Sonic Cineplayer Decoder Pack E:\7da4c.msi

This whole error code is a pal around back scratch between Roxio and Windows. To get rid of the "error message" which they created, you have to pay $70.00 for their crapp- axx software that is not even very good in the first place, Too bad Apple is not such junk and expensive, or I would change over. Thanks for really sticking it to us Microsoft!!!

Dvd Decoder

Sounds like you are trying to burn/copy a DVD that has copyright protection encryption. You need to decrypt it using something like DVD Decrypt. NOTE: the legality of doing such is questionable.

Lite On LH-18A1P DVD RW

Copywrited DVD Movies require that an MPEG software DVD Decoder be installed on your system. Windows doesn't include any because of their Anti-Trust violations and court issues.
(not to be confused with other media players, and DVD players that are included with DVD Movies, such as HOTLLAMA, and Interactive - you still need a DECODER. This is a throwback to the early days of PC DVD ROM's that required a HARDWARE MPEG DVD DECODER be installed, usually in a PCI slot, and connected to your video card through the VESA expansion connector. Nowadays, the hardware is built into the DVD unit, but it still requires a software decoder to operate).

Every DVD ROM or Burner comes with one...usually "Cyberlink PowerDVD", and now Nero's included one in their bundled OEM package.
Any version of any one of these will unlock the "DVD Movie" features for all media player installed on your PC.
[oops, almost forgot, you need Nero 7 or better for Vista. Any Cyberlink should work for you].

If you don't have one, try borrowing one from anyone who's got one. You can also go the P2P route, and download one, if you're so inclined.
Good luck, and I hope that fixes your problem!

Roxio 9

If you CAN, right click on the install utility icon and select 'Run in XP', then it should install.
If not then...
Roxio 9 is pre-Vista and out date for your computer, and can not run on Vista.
You should bite the bullet and install Roxio's newest version.
Easy Media Creator 10 Suite.
I believe you can still get it at a discount as a current Roxio owner.
