Restriction in your vent check it from the back of the dryer it must be 4 inches in dia and clear get a flashlight and look behind the dryer see if its mashed coiled or folded check the dryer hood make sure if there is a bird screen on it its clear easy way to tell if vent is at fault disconnect from dryer and do a load then let me know

Tip

Saving money drying clothes

The biggest thing to remember about your clothes dryer is that it has to get the moisture out. If you keep your venting clean it will aid your dryer in shorter drying times. The more heated dry air it can pull through wet clothes while they are tumbling the faster clothes will dry.
If the venting is restricted by lint or kinked, or low quality venting, all end up costing more in drying times. Use good venting, preferably steel, and do use the proper vent cap on the outside wall.(check lint does not catch here also)Many service calls could be prevented by regular maintenance of venting.( thermal safety fuses which all dryers have are the reason for most service repair calls when the venting has not been cleaned) Also the shorter distance your dryer is vented, the better.

The second less obvious problem is not cleaning the lint screen. All the air or almost all passes through this screen before being exhausted outside. You need to clean the lint first. Second you need to wash the lint screen in the sink to clean off any build up of fabric softener that can also cause slow drying. Water should run straight through the metal mesh, if it ponds it is coated with softener, and water should wash this off.(I have been on service calls where dryers were not drying correctly and just washing off the lint screen of fabric softener fixed the problem)
Lastly wiping the two short parallel bars about three inches long found inside the dryer with alcohol to remove any fabric softener or other coating will keep the automatic cycle working right. Not all dryers use these........
Before thermistors, when thermostats were all that was out there.........
Hope this saves you some money and time.......

Our Kitchen Aid Gas dryer is heating, but not drying the clothes. Can this be fixed?

Hi,

If your
dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Clothes take long to dry on Kitchen Aid Model - KEYE660WWHO

First thing to do is vacuum out all lint from dryer, unplug, remove back and vacuum all lint out of it, also where vent hooks up. Then clean out duct work from inside of home to where it exits. Excess lint holds moister and causes dryer not to dry.

Dryer is taking too long to dry

Dryer needs to be cleaned. Unplug, take off back and vacuum all lint out of dryer, also take off vent and vacuum inside of vent area. Then clean dryer vent from inside of house to where it exits. Make sure all lint removed. Lint holds moisture and causes dryer not to be able to release steam caused by heating wet clothes, thus clothes don't dry.

Kitchen aid dryer Partial drying the cloth

First you should make sure the exhaust vent and ducting and lint trap is not clogged or restricted, birds/insect nests, or lint build up. If the dryer is heating up it is most likely an airflow issue.

Dryer is spinning and warming up but it's not drying

Exhaust full of lint. Vacuum into dryer exhaust as far as you can, Then clean out complete vent from dryer to outside. Any lint will catch moisture and clothes will not dry.

Whirlpool dryer won't dry

If your dryer spins and heats properly and the clothes don't dry, then very simply put, the moist air is not being taken away. If your drying temp is adequate, then the problem is with the exhaust. Go to where the air is being exhausted outside your home, if working properly, when you put your hand on the air coming out, it should get damp very quickly. And ALWAYS clean the lint trap after every load!!!!

FRIDGIDAIRE GAS DRYER MODEL # GLGR642AS2 IS NOT DRYING CLOTHES BUT GAS IS IGNITING. THANK YOU. DON

Hi Don,
So let me get this straight, you are getting heat from the gas burner and the drum rotates but your clothes remain wet? You can check a few basic things to identify where the problem lies.. First off, have you checked the lint trap and cleaned it? Secondly, have you checked your vent system ( meaning : are you sure it is not clogged anywhere in the duct or at the end where it exits outside? If that's OK.. when your system is drying clothes.. do you get hot air flow at the end of that duct? If not, your blower may not be working ..You need to move that hot air out of the tub for the system to dry. Heat, Motion to move clothes, air flow from the blower and an unimpeded path via the vent duct to outside.. Hope one of these things to check gets you going. Regards...
