By default, you can get to the surfboard configuration page by http://192.168.100.1. username: admin / password: motorola
username and password are case sensitive.

if you dont know the password better get it from your roommate to avoid resetting the modem back to factory defaults. if there's no other way to retreive it you can reset it by pressing the reset button on the back of it for 5-10sec.

after resetting, according to the manual, the modem might need 5min to 30min to sync again with your ISP.

How do you open the NAT on this router

Hello, You can perform the following steps to open NAT.. 1) You can take the IP add of your device( X-box, PS3) and then contact the device vendor(Xbox or PS3) and ask them to give port numbers for your device. Once u get the port numbers you can either open ports on the router by logging into the router interface using your Default gateway(192.168.2.1) of the router or you could put the IP add of your device in DMZ on the router. Basically this will keep the device out of the firewall of the router( Which is the main reason for this issue). 2) If the first step didnt work you could disable the firewall on the router.
If both the steps didnt work you could check if your router has any firmware update or it has to be reset and re-configured and the above steps should be re-done.
Hope this helped.

You do not need the software that comes with any modem:

Reset the router:

To restore the factory default configuration settings without knowing the administration password

or IP address, you must use the reset button on the rear panel of the router.

1. Press and hold the reset button until the Power LED turns red (about 6 seconds).
2. Release the reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

To log in to the modem router:
1. Type http://routerlogin.net or http://192.168.0.1 in the address field of an Internet browser.
Enter admin for the user name and password for the password, both in lower case letters.

NAT automatically assigns private IP addresses (10.1.1.x) to

LAN-connected devices.

? Enable. Usually NAT is enabled.

? Disable. This disables NAT, but leaves the firewall active.

Disable NAT only if you are sure that you do not require it.

When NAT is disabled, only standard routing is performed

by this router. Classical routing lets you directly manage the

IP addresses that the DG834G v4 uses. Classical routing

should be selected only by experienced users*

? Disable Firewall. This disables the firewall in addition to

disabling NAT. With the firewall disabled, the protections

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

My computer shows "local" connection only - why is that?

could be a number of reasons 1) The router has not been setup correctly - log back into the router and check all the details User manual here http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=5098&type=guide
2) Login to the router and see the status page and if that is showing connected also look at the lights on the front of the router and see if connected WAN Light make sure the cable from the modem is connected to the WAN port and the lights on the modem are correct
3) On the PC make sure that the firewall is not blocking access disable any firewall
if this does not solve the issue post back the following
{ipconfig /all} If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results here -> Start -> (XP - enter the following in the RUN box) cmd /k ipconfig /all -> (Vista or Windows 7 - enter the following in the Search box) cmd /k ipconfig /all
A black box will appear on the screen - rightclick in the box select all enter control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and control key + V to paste ------------------------------------------------------------------------

2700HGV-B rebooting

Is this device a modem and router in one, or a router only that connects through a separate modem?

If it's a combo device, then a firmware update will probably fix your issue. Your ISP should be able to fix this. Hiding the device on the floor under a drawer could actually cause this because, like any computer, a router needs air flow to cool it off. Routers can overheat and freeze up leading to some weird symptoms.

If you have two devices (router and modem) then make sure it's not the modem acting up.
