Maytag Neptune MDG9700AWW gas dryer. Problems is the dryer runs for 3 hrs when drying clothes

I thought this was an energy efficient appliance. How can that be when I've had loads take up to 3-3 1/2 hours to dry, and I have the sensor set to "Normal Dry"?  If i use timed dry the clothes are still quite damp/wet after 45 minutes. I don't understand this, I even clean the lint trap after every load.

Dum turns to fast for cloths to tumble, 2 hrs. to dry!!

don't know about the drum turning to fast, but the two hours to dry I do know. Disconnect the vent tube and dry a load of clothes, as there is a restriction in your vent tube. You will need to clean the tube out with a vacuum or leaf blower, you may want to clean the inside of the dryer out, also. Good Luck Tim

Dryer doesn't dry (flame cuts out)

279834 is the part number for the 2 coils ( kit ) which mount on the burner . Only 2 screws hold the coil retainer . One coil is opening ( shorting ) after it gets warm . Replaceing both will solve the problem . Easily replaceable .

Maytag Neptune MDG 5500 AWQ heats sporatically

your dryer has a safety feature that it will not run or heat when the door is opened. It is so no gas fumes are exhauseted into your home. Once the safety is engaged, It will not allow the dryer to restart for a short while. It should clear itself after only a few minutes. Hope this helps, good luck.
