I am having problems with Microsoft upgrade I keep getting error: 0xC800042D

While Microsoft is trying hardest to force people on Windows 10 before free upgrades end on July 29, some PCs won't budge.
Even if you want a free upgrade, errors may get in the way. Error code 0x80073712 appears to be particularly troublesome, as a Windows Update file is damaged or missing. Although there are many possible solutions to this problem, there is no guarantee that any of them will work.

I just checked mine, I have no problem getting in, so they are not upgrading
try using another browser if that does not work it is most likely spyware or malware that is causing your problem, run spybot search and destroy, you can find that here

You can try to roll back by restoring your system. just type in command prompt : C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe Please check for the back date . But upgrading does not create such problem how have you upgrade your system ? Is you window Genuine ?

please first uninstall all the existing versions of MS Office. Then try to clean temporary files, cache and registry using tools like cCleaner (freely availavle), then install MS Office.

if you want to install only MS Office 2007, no need to install MS office 2003 and upgrade. directly install MS Office 2007.

If you want to keep both, pleas install MS office 2003 first, then MS office 2007, please dont uograde it, rather select Keep both version.

Please make sure that you have admin permission before doing all this and your system is free from any virus.

I dont know what the error actually means.

But have you formatted the hard drive using NTFS.

Are you selecting the upgrade option.

To perform the installation follow the steps :

Use the vista upgrade advisor whether your compter is capable of upgrading to vista.

Then start the installation.

This error is something to do with the "Product Key" I think I have Googled this error and this is what shows up the most? I googled ... vista install error code 0x800705AA .... so perhaps ya can follow up in this vien... Good Luck
