    beadbecca,

What does the error message say? Is the error showing up on your monitor (in Windows) or is the error showing up on the small display that's actually on the printer?

Buy a trash can and throw the thing in it. I had my hp7410 do the same thing. when i looked at where the cartridge locks in, there is a spring that is held in alignment by a tiny plastic tab. it was broke causing the spring to not stay in place. 3 screws hold the housing on and when i took them loose and pulled the head out, there was a small wire attachment that lights a sensor. i tried numerous times to set the head right and if i can find a manual to show me how to replace the head (don't know what the head will cost) i will get the trash can out and buy another brand.

When trying to execute a print job the printer keeps insisting that there is a paper jam. I have done my best to insure the printer is cleared of any obstructions short of trying to pull it apart. Is it...

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

HP 3915 paper jam error

I had the same problem and just talked with HP technician Neeta and she showed me how to fix it. It's a bit convoluted. In essence you have to clear the print spooler. Here is what she told me.

First you have to be clear that there really ISN'T a paper jam by printing a test message this back door way.

Neeta : The USB cable should be disconnected. Neeta: To print a self-test page, press and hold the Power button. Raise and lower the printer cover four times. Release the Power button, and the self-test page prints

If the sel-test page prints, this means you truly do not have a paper jam. Next, clear the print spooler

Neeta : The USB cable should be disconnected.Neeta : Now click on start->RUN.Neeta : Then type "services.msc".Neeta : Then it will open the services window.Neeta : Now please look for the option "print spooler. Neeta : Okay, now , please right click on the option "print spooler" and click on stop then click on start, 3 times.
