You need to configure the Linksys with the wireless settings, ie. the SSID and encryption. then you need to configure the wireless card in laptop with these router's wireless settings so it can connect with the wireless router. Open a browser on your computer and type in the Linksys configuration URL. http://192.168.1.1 The default login = admin The default PW = admin then go to the wireless section and configure the SSID and encryption. I suggest you use WPA or WPA2 these are much stronger encryption than the older WEP encrtption.
I'm guessing when you say unlock you are needing to forward these ports. Follow this link...it shows you how to get into the router and forward the ports: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/default.htm
First of all you need to connect to your router using a LAN connection (wireless won't work as you might not be connected wirelessly due to the missing WEP key) and follow the steps below:
1.) using the internet explorer (not AOl or MSN or..)but the internet explorer that your computer came with. 2.) enter "192.168.1.1" in the website address field. do NOT use www in front. 3.) this will bring you to a linksys website. You might need to login (default username and password is admin) 4.) click on wireless 5.) then wireless security 6.) then you will see the page with the wep key listed. 7.) use the first wep key listed.
In case nothing helps, you will need to hard reset your router which would erase all the settings and configuration and bring the router back to factory settings. You may refer to the manual to perform the hard reset, in case you have lost the manual leave a comment and we shall provide you the next steps.
the default login for linksys is user name: (leave blank) ,password: admin; if that doesn't solve your problem unplug all the cords and hold the reset button on the back of the unit for 30 seconds then gradually reintroduce it to your network.
First of all u should ensure that DHCP server is configured for your required number of computers. this problem seems that you have less clients configured in your DHCP server, existing in router configuration.
This is a common problem with Linksys wireless routers and primarily the WRT54G and WRT54GS. For some odd reason they all of a sudden go stupid and forgetful.
The easiest method to revive these routers is to go to the Linksys web site and get the automatic configuration download for your specific model of wireless router.
you can useyour web browser utility by accesing ip address
it may nbe 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1
