Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80 Digital Camera
I have Cyber shot 7.2 Pega Pixels. It works fine but when I try to take a picture and zoom in it it would not do it and give me a message 'Turn the power on and try again'. I wonder if there is a problem with settings or it is hardware. Enlarging (zooming in) works only in 'view pictures' mode, not in shooting mode.
Thanks for help;

What is most likely going on is something is obstructing the movement of the lens (i.e. sand). You could try blowing compressed air into the side of the lens to try and dislodge whatever might be in the lens. If this doesn't work I would try putting the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointing upwards and hold the shutter button in, while doing this turn the camera on. If neither of these options work I would have it looked at by an authorized service technician, and it’s possible all it needs is a professional cleaning. I hope this helps!
