Question about Lucent Merlin Legend MLX-20L Phone

MLX-20L - Message light is on but there is no message

Hi,

since a few days the message light of my phone is on indicating that there is a message but there is no message. How can I turn off the message light? I hope someone can help me out. Because otherwise I have to call my mailbox several times the day just to make sure if there is a message or not.

Press Menu, then Msgs, then Delete. It's some internal phone thing.

You will need to log into the admin mailbox of teh voicemail. But there are a few different voicemail systems on that system. Do you know which you have?

Merlin Mail, Merlin Legend Mail or Merlin messaging?

Voice message retrieval


You need a password to enter any mailbox. Depending on your voicemail system, the default could be 1234, or 123456.

How do I recall a deleted message Merlin Legend MLX-20L Phone?


I assume you are also using a Merlin Voice Mail? Once the message has been deleted there is not way to retrieve it.

Didn't see an option to delete all messages.

Press the Menu button, select Messages, and then select Delete.

Trying to change message on phone


I had the same problem recently and it took me days to finally find the instructions in the manual.

Presuming that you're using the Merlin Mail Voice Messaging System, download the manual from http://www.avaya.com/gcm/master-usa/en-us/home/index.htm

and go to page 5-108 to 5-109.

You must follow the complete set of instructions until the very end otherwise the new recording will not be saved. If you're like me, it will take a few tries to get it right. Just remember that the process makes no sense, so don't try to make sense of it. I think that whoever programmed this system was having a laugh at our expense. Anyhow, the instructions work.

I have the Merlin Legend system. To change to auto attendant is an "administrator" funtion. From the main console, go into the administrator mailbox-enter passwords-go to the #3, which is automated attendant-press 1 for Day menu-press 6 to modify the menu. The menu "prompt" is what you want to change-the recording. If you no longer have an administrator or someone that knows the administrator's mailbox number and passwords, you will probably have to call Avaya and pay them the $650/hr they now want for remote programming, OR calla alocal person with Merlin Legend programming expertise.

I can't change from night service to normal service


Are the keys not working? These phones have a common problem with the keypad locking up. If so, the keyboard membrane would need to be replaced. Temperature and humidity effects this problem greatly. You could try putting the phone in a freezer for a few hours to see if you can temporarily get the buttons working to put your system back into day mode. You will still need to get the phone repaired.
