I cant get my HP photosmart c4180 to install on my computer!!

HP PhotoSmart C4180 All-in-One is a not a network supported printer. This is just a USB printer.Hence you will not be able to assign or locate the IP address of this unit.

You just need a USB cable and connect it to your laptop. Make sure also that you have installed the AIO printer driver.

I suspect this is the result of the printer not seeing the computer properly, it sounds like it is assuming you have no other data source so wants the memory card to pull from. Check the USB cable between the printer and your computer for a loose connection. Try unplugging and plugging in the USB cable and power supply. You also could try connecting the USB cable to another port.

If that doesn't work, it may be that the driver was updated by something and now isn't working as well with your system. Reinstall the software program that came with the HP Photosmart C4180. To do this in Windows, uninstall the old program through the "Add/Remove Programs" menu. Insert the CD-ROM that came with the printer and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reinstallation.

You need to try isolating the problem first.

1. Try connecting the USB cable into different USB port of your Mac Leopard.
2. Make sure that your computer could detect other USB devices.
3. Try connecting the printer into different computer to see if the printer would be detected or not.
4. Use different USB cable.

If you get the same problem, you need to contact the printer manufacturer. I believe that it is more on physical connection.

After download is complete unplug printer usb and install driver. The installer will tell you when to connect the printer to the computer.

try plugging the usb connection to a different spot on the computer. it could be the usb ports dont work or could possibly not supply enough power to detect the printer.

Install the software on the laptop first and when it asks to connect the device, continue without connecting. Once finished, ensure the printer on the desktop is being shared in the printers folder. Then on the laptop add a device and search the network. If your 2 computers have the network established it should see it.

Download and instal the VISTA driver made for you model.

Please perform the below steps to clear the queue and print from the computer.

Before performing the below steps try to make a copy from the all-in-one to check the hardware functionality.

Remove the USB cable from the computer.

Now click on start --> control panel --> printers and faxes --> right click on the HP C4100 printer icon and delete all the pending documents.

Now again click on start --> run --> type services.msc and press enter --> locate print spooler in services window and right click on the print spooler and click on refresh or stop the spooler service and then restart the spooler.

Now open the printers and faxes folder, right click on the printer icon --> properties --> advanced tab --> enable print directly to printer and click OK.

Now connect the USB cable back to the computer and then try to print from the notepad and check for the result.
