I have a legacy 696cd/b. We have to be right on the door (almost touching it) to get the garage door to open. We got a new remote as well as a new battery, however it has not helped. Does anyone else...

Garage door remotes are at the mercy of any interference that other devices emit. If you have a florescent or LED light bulb anywhere around the garage or in the opener, change it out for a regular bulb.

Money-Saving lighting hints

We are being sold on the idea of florescent lights saving money. Please consider that these bulbs use a much lower amount of power while they are on. Also, be aware that they will "burn" for a longer period (on average) than other illumination types (excluding LED lamps). HOWEVER, it is critical to your pocket book... to be aware of the following :
1. FLORESCENT lamps cost 5 to 10 times the price of an incandescent lamp.
2. ON-OFF cycles reduce the operating life dramatically (for example, a garage door opener that comes on/off several times a day and stays on for only a short period of time will NEVER result in a savings to you). Please use these lamps ONLY in fixtures that are left on for at least several hours each day.
3. The environmental impact of a florescent bulb is dramatically greater than any other lighting device.
4. The longivity claims of the bulb manufacturer are not worth the ink that those claims are made of. If you doubt this, ask the retailer if you can return the failed bulb if you get less than 5,000 hours of life (ha ha).

Where is lamp location in polaroid 32 in hd tv

I'm not sure which TV you have. The Philips 50' plasma does not have a backlight. The Polaroid 32 can have a incandescent or a florescent backlight. The backlight is accessed by removing the back of the TV and replacing the lamps. There can be 1-4 of these light for florescent and 1-*** number of lights if incandescent, depends on the design, model, features, price point.

Vizio vo42lfdtv10a Turns on the vizio name light, goes from orang to white. In the back there is a blue light on left florescent driver board, It comes on for a few seconds and goes out. Florescent lamps...

I will check out the back lights inverter board first if there is any defective electrolytic capacitors or not, if not, the problem is the main board.

Leviton 3-way wide view motion activated light control, flickers, then blinks then shuts off after installation. Installed in a hallway with florescent lighting.

Some switches are not designed to work with the florescent bulbs. It's a matter of them trying to push a starter for the light. Check the package and see if it's compatible.

I have an overhead panel of eight 4' flourescent lights which I believe are each 40 watts. The dimmer switch that controls them all as a unit has failed. Any suggestions about where to get a replacement...

Google-search: florescent slide dimmer
You have 320 Watts, 120 volts, and the circuit uses 2.6 amps.
Volts x Amps = Watts.

1) The florescent slide dimmers seem to cost $100-120

2) If you search for florescent dimmer, the cost is lower than the slide dimmer.
Leviton sells for $50

The dimmer switch will turn on and off but wont dim the lights on a chandelier. model 6681-w. tried 2 different ones with the same results.

The Leviton 6681 is a push-button rotary-type incandescent dimmer with 600Watt capacity

If you have incandescent bulbs, the dimmer should work.
If the dimmer has different color wires, try reversing the wires.
If the dimmer replaced a 3-way switch, then this is not the right dimmer.
If you have compact florescent bulbs, you need a dimmer that also dims florescent.

http://www.google.com/products/catalog
Link shows the Leviton 6673 incandescent and florescent dimmer

But you also need dimmable compact florescent bulbs.

Broan Fan surging and light flicking on and off

Hello,

If it is a Florescent light, it may just need replacement. However, if it is a filament light, if it flickers on/off when the fan is active, there could be a wiring problem. But I doubt that...lOL :) It may just need a replacement starter sometimes if its a florescent, the tiny battery like thing that hangs a bit out :)

Better photos in florescent lighting

You need to adjust the white balance setting.
This is on the shooting menu.

The options on the white balance presets are.
Flash, Cloudy, Daylight, Fluorescent, Incandescent
Fluorescent is what you are looking for.
Remember to change it back to auto for outdoor shoting.

Acer 4720z LCD

Sounds like the backlight has gone. They are a florescent panel and like all florescent lights don't last forever. This is not something that is user serviceable, so it's time to book it in for a replacement panel.
