CDX-S2000 Volume, Source, and Mode buttons not working????

I have a Sony CDX S2000 Detachable face CD player. It seems that the buttons on the Left side of the faces plate are not working. I have cleaned the connections on both the face pate and the unit itself per the instructions in the manual, but with no improvement. Any suggestions???

Hey jshaff, try taking off the detachable front, and you will see a reset button, press and hold in for 10 secs, this should solve your problem. if it doesn't work first time keep trying. you must have power to the head unit for this to work. you will hear the cd make a noise and that should be that, try and let me know.

I had the same problem with the buttons not working although the CD did work but again the volume and track buttons did not work. The reset button did not solve the problem. I cleaned the contacts on the faceplate and head unit (with denaturred alcohol and a cotton bud) but this made no difference. I finally thought there might be a fuse problem in my car (Honda Accord). I took out the fuse for the radio/cig lighter but this was okay. But when I put the fuse back and turned the ignition on the unit made a whirring noise and when I pressed the power button the powered aerial activated and all the functions returned. Maybe disconnecting the power to the radio/cd player, which I did unintentionally, properly resets the unit rather than the button reset method.

Have you tried resetting the microprocessor?

Remove the detachable face. There is a small pinhole on the front of the radio about two inches from the left side near the bottom. Press this in lightly with a fine point pin or paper clip. Hold about 3 seconds, then release.

Replace the face and try it. Let me know.

Need to fix the time

I have the the sony cdx gt 400 and the manual is of no help but I figured it out. You have two options...option 1 is wait until 1 o'clock and hit the small reset button on the radio behind your detachable face, or option 2 is a even better option. Press and hold the volume button in and options will appear...then by tapping the volume button you will cycle through the various options until you find "clock adjust" then press the small "display" button below the volume knob and also right next to the "source" button...the hour will flash turn the volume knob to desired hour then tap the volume knob or display button and the minutes will flash then turn the volume knob to the desired minutes, and you are done...hopefully this helps
