"The definiton in the manual suggests you are trying to record a digital bitstream that is either dead or incompatible with the recorder."

That is completely wrong. DIN UNLOCK means what the first poster said - that you are trying to make a digital copy of a digital copy. You cannot (for legal reasons). Record via analog.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TRY TO CLEAN YOUR LENS WITH ALCOHOL AND A Q-TIP. It has nothing whatsoever to do with your problem and you may well damage or destroy the lens or the transport.

SOURCE: The problem with my MDS-JB940 is when recording.

HELLO
Have you tried cleaning the lens? Even minidisc decks have to get the laser cleaned!
Power it off and take the lid off, then using isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud clean the lens gently in a circular motion. Then try it again.
It may just work for you (:-)

Hi - You can download the manual from the link underlined in blue below:

MDS-JE480

The error you have is probably:

This means that you are trying to record from the Digital Input, if you want to record from an analogue input do the following:

How do i get the flashing dinlock off the minidisc player

That means you are trying to record a digital signal but cannot (for several different reasons). Record via analogue.

Jd520 error read c71

DIN unlock is related to a digital clock being missing so the unit is looking for a digital input of some kind. Since your laptop is putting out analog change the MD input to analog and of course use the correct inputs. A 1/8" or 3.5mm audio cable may fit into an optical port but it will never work in that way.

My mini disc player is displaying din unlock c71 i cannot record

You have probably chosen a source which is not active, there are other reasons but usually your selector switch is set to a dead input with nothing to record from.

Whats a c71 din unlock plz if any 1 can help me just email me plz

Usually, you are trying to record DIGITALLY from a source that has 'copy protection'. Try recording thru the Analog jacks, and you shouldn't have this problem.

If “Din Unlock” flashes in the display
• The digital program source is not connected as you set
with INPUT
To continue, connect the program source properly.

Turn on the program source.

Din Unlock - Unable to record

You must have the unit switched to "DIGITAL" input - switch it to "ANALOG" and record that way. The "DIN UNLOCK" is when you have the lack of a proper digital signal, or a digital signal with copy protection, like you cannot make a digital copy of a digital Minidisc, etc...Does that make sense? Let me know if the "Analog" setting works for you. Good luck.

Hi I have a sony music system which flashes push protect how do i solve th e problem

One of two things, the little super tiny sliding door on the front edge of the minidisc (like on a cassette tape) is slid open, to prevent recording (so slide door closed), or two, you are trying to digitally record from a 2nd generation digital source, which the Minidisc will not let you do.
