Wal-mart has a set of two usb adapters one is for your car the other is a wall...all you do is plug your usb cable into the end and the other into the mp3 player. it will work to charge any mp3 player, i think it is about 20 bucks but lots cheaper than a rca or apple brand one.

Make sure hold/lock is not engaged

Restart

Get the firmware upgrade from RCA website

If it is less than a year old, call RCA if these methods fail and get a replacement - hope you still have your receipt.

Charging problem

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

WWON'T POWER ON

For one, you don't need the CD to put music on the Opal. It's a plug and play device. Go to My Computer on your desktop and you will see under Audio Devices "OPAL". Click on that and you'll see a folder called "Media" and that's where you put your music.

For not turning on, click Pause/Play twice

For charging, You need to plug in the USB cord into the computer to charge it. Wait 3 hours. The Opal doesn't have a real long battery life, i'd say around 10-15 hours. So you'll be needing to charge it quite a bit.
