Cant remember hard drive password

Wow, that's unfortunate. You're up the creek without a paddle. I'm not calling you a thief, but 99% of the time when you encounter a computer that has the lock on the hard drive and the person in possession of the computer does not know the password, the computer is stolen. The original owner put the password lock on to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data.

I am looking for my bios password on my toshiba deskstop it was locked i do not have password harddrive password is locked

You're definitely out of luck if there is a Password on the Hard Drive. The only way you can get the system to ever work again is to get that someone that put the password on the hard drive to take it off.

99% of the time if a computer has a Password on the hard drive and the person it possession of the computer does not know the password, it's a stolen computer. The original owner put the password lock on it to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data if it is stolen.

Locked password

Locked Password where? Bios Password? Hard Drive Password? Windows User Account (userid) Password? And which operating system?

If it's the Bios Password, then you will need to remove the CMOS Battery and let the computer sit for a couple of hours. Then put the battery back in and try rebooting. You'll have to go back into the BIOS or Setup to put the correct date and time in but the password should be gone from memory.

If it's the Hard Drive Password, you're kinda out of luck. Hard drives are locked 99% of the time when the computer is stolen. The original owner either locked it while he had possession of it or he could have locked it remotely when it was stolen to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data. The only way around it is to have the original put the password in, or Purchase a new hard drive to put in the computer, reload the operating system, reload the drivers and reload application programs.

If it's the Windows Password for User Account turn off the computer, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key until you see the SAFE MODE Option. Take the Safe Mode option to boot the computer. When it comes to the login screen it will show you the Administrator account and the Account for which you forgot or don't know the password. Log into the Administrator account (hopefully you didn't password protect it and forgot it). When windows desktop comes up click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts. When the User Accounts window opens up click on the User Account for which you forgot the password then select Remove Password. Reboot the machine

Got a computer from my sister and she forgot the user name and password.. How do i fix that.. Emachine

There are only 2 options to fix this, either re-install a fresh copy windows or you could get a program called password resseter and it will do the trick. There are various programs that will also do the trick but they must be installed on a flash drive.. Let me know if this answers your question and good luck..

Im locked out i forgot my password

Hi,

If you have forgot BIOS password then you have to reset CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps: Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battrey, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will clear the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battrey & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Computer locked and I have never locked it.

Go to Control Panel -> Power Options. On one of the tabs presented in this dialog there is a setting to require a password on wakeup. Just clear that checkmark and apply the settings and you should be set. I run XP in a virtual machine, so this option does not appear for me otherwise I would tell you exactly what tab it is located on.

I dont know anything about cap locks i have to get a new password every time i log in to facebook and i dont know why they keep rejecting my password HELP

Caps lock is that key on the left side of your keyboard. When pressed, it makes all letters that are typed in into uppercase letters. For example; without caps lock pressed: "pressure". With caps lock pressed: "PRESSURE". If it mentions something about passwords being "case sensitive," this means that an uppercase letter A (A) is recognized differently than a lowercase letter A (a). Since you can't see your password being typed, it is important to make sure caps lock is not pressed. If this becomes too complicated, open up MS Word, notepad, or wordpad and type your password there so you can see it, then copy and paste the password into the password space on facebook. Good luck with that.
