The power button on my A45-S250 has suddenly stopped working properly. I press the button, and (much) more often than not, the computer won't turn on. When it does turn on, everything works fine. Might this just be a bad contact? What should I do to take care of this?

Re: Power Button Isn't Working Properly
There might be possibility that the cable connected from the front board on/off socket which connects to the motherboard is not connected properly , so for this either you will have to open up the chassis of the laptop and then check that whether it is fine or not. Other wise Take a magnet and move it along the power on /off button for 1 minute ( on the laptop ) , this will remove any static charge effecting the laptop ( very rare scenario ).
Or take it to a technician. Also check the battery.

if your laptop is booting properly then foll up following steps
First of all if you can remove the ram memory DO IT SO ifyou cant try without removing FIRST.
-remove battery pack(if you can romove memory ram aswell) and wait 10 mins -now start charging laptop without battery pack for 2 mins -unplUg the power AND press and hold the power button for 45 seconds -REPLUG THE POWER CABLE BUT DONT PUT THE BATTERY PACK YET
NOW OPEN THE LID WIDER YOU CAN PRESS POWER BUTTON YOU WILL SEE YOUR SYSTEM WILLSTART ONCE YOUR SYSTEM BE READY SHUT IT DOWN PUT THE BATTERY PACK BACK ANDCONTUNUE TO USE YOUR LAPTOP
Unplug the power cord, take out the battery and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds. This should take your computer out of the reboot loop that it is stuck in. If it doesn't, try using an external CD drive from Wal-Mart or Radio Shack, your computer should register it and you can load the windows CD from there.
You will find the memory on the Toshiba A45-S250 under the keyboard. Snap of the grill that also has the on/off button on it, just above the keyboard. You will find two screws holding down the keyboard and another screw near the middle holding down a small silver piece that is holding down the center part of the keyboard. Lift the keyboard from the screen end toward you. Memory is located under a clear plastic flap. The power should be off and the battery removed during this operation. Be sure to touch some metal piece to ground yourself also. Good luck.
