When I put a cup of water in the microwave and set it for 2 minutes the microwave will start working but then shuts down to the point where I do not see the time or anything. If I let the microwave sit for a few minutes it comes back on showing 0 and then I have to reset the time and so forth. If you might know of anything I can try or that I am doing wrong the info would be greatly appriciated.
thanks Tammy

When I turn on have similar problem with it starting and stopping when cooking time set. Model no. MWG9111SC.
I've had problems with Emerson products in the past and will never purchase their products again. My microwave is about 1 year old.

It sounds like the magnetron is overheating, then the magnetron thermostat trips, interrupting power to the oven.
When it cools down, the thermostat closes again, restoring power to the oven.
Is your internal cooling fan working? Do you feel air flow when it's running? Is there adequate space around the microwave to allow for proper air flow?
Magnetron overheating can be due to lack of air flow or due to internal magnetron failure.
