Thank you. With your help I was able to do a hard reset. Can you tell me how I can restore my third party applications. I assume that they can be found in one of the folders on my computer, but I'm not sure how to access them. I use Windows XP. Thanks very much for your help.

Yes. This solved my problem, and I am very happy to have my Palm device working again.

Thanks. I notice that several of my applications are not listed (e.g., TealScript and Explorer). Can you tell me how to find them?

With that error, the device needs to be hard reset. The hard reset will erase all the data on the device and 3rd party apps. After the reset sync the E2 and then try installing each program one at a time. Hard reset instructions here
OR,
right click on my Hotsync Icon in your start go to properties- then open file location- in this loacation you may notice two HotSync Icons, open the one named HotsyncWizard and ran it and then hit your hotsync button. It should work.

My e2 was locked up I pressed the power and reset at same time

I experienced similar problems with my E2, until I reset the battery. Let me know if you are uncertain how to reset (remove and reinsert) the battery. No soldering is needed.

Everytime I use the search fuction I get a fatal alert message

Make sure you have over 25% remaining space on your HandHeld and try again. Otherwise try a hard reset: Hold down the power button and click the reset button.

Unable to hotsync with my computer

anytime you get fatal alerts you have to do more than just push the reset button. You will have to do a soft reset or possibly a hard reset,(usually the soft reset works) Google it and you will find it is quite simple to do

Fatal Alert problem

We prayed and asked God to save the data even though we had to do a hard reset. Data was preserved entirely! For this we give thanks--and praise.

Unable to hotsync with my computer

Also, if you have a new Tungsten E2 and there is no important data, I would hard reset it and then when you sync it, select the old profile of the previous Palm to see if that works.

The new Palm you have, is it a Tungsten E2 as well?

The profiles don't always carry over between different models.
