The 7 step DIY repair techniques outlined on the camera repair blog only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors. But if the camera is out of warranty, they were worth the try. Unfortunately, the other 60% of cameras that fall prey to a lens error can only be corrected by professional repair. If the repair steps didn't work for your particular case, recommend trying one more time. If no luck, it may be time to consider professional repair or purchasing a new camera.

When i on my Canon EOS 450D camera it says error 99 turn off and on the camera or re install the battery how can fix this problem

The error 99 code has different sources, to identify it do this:

Remove the Lens, and try shooting at various speed high (1/1000 or more) then at more normal ones 1/15, 1/50 etc.
If you see the error 99 then contact canon this is a problem wit the camera.
In this case contact Canon directly.

If you still don' have the error message, then put back the lens and try shooting at different apertures (for a lens the error 99 correspond with an aperture problem)
try every aperture. If the problem appears then, clean the lens contacts both on the camera and on the lens.

If the problem is still there, contact the lens brand, you certainly have a blocked or sticky aperture.

Hope this helps.

Lens error

Lens errors with these types of point and shoots usually mean the camera is basically dead. The cost to repair a lens error is almost always more than buying a replacement.

However, there are a couple of things you can try out.

1. First try to use some canned air to blow out anything that might be caught inside the lens mechanism. Just spray a bit on the outer part of the lens when the camera is turning on.

2. Turn the camera off. Then try to insert a fingernail inside the lens cover (right on top of the lens glass). Turn the camera on and pull away from the camera with your fingernail. Sometimes the outward force can help unjam the lens.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. Lens error, restart camera

Lens error is usually caused by mechanical faults concerning lens assembly. The lens cannot extend or retract fully, the error is detected and lens error is returned.
Sometimes this can be fixed playing with the lens during extraction or retraction to help the lens asset getting back to normal.
More often the camera lens must be disassembled and re-assembled by a technician to fix the problem.

That's a fairly new camera, and is likely still under warranty. Contact Canon first to see if they'll help 1-800-828-4040 or 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

"lens error" on casio ex-z3

Sorry to say but a lens error actually is a problem that you cannot fix at home. When a lens error occurs, the motors inside that make the lens retract and protract were some how damaged, usually caused if the lens try coming out when you have it in your pocket or against a surface so it cant fully come out. You will have to send the camera in for service and you can do that by calling 1-800-706-2534, option 1.
