SOURCE: the microphone is not detected

you cn check the connection b going into the properties of your sound card page and go to the section for input check if the mic shows up have you any drivers loaded for the mic... if you go to setting then control panel look for the sound and audio box there is block there for speech check you mic is selected.. you can try connecting via afront panel usb port as well or via you sound card inputs on the back panel

Front 4 usb ports and microphone and headphone jacks don't work but the rear usb and speaker jacks do work. I've had the computer new since 2009 and they have never worked.

it sounds to me like the wires from the front panel connectors are not connected to the motherboard inside the computer case, open the case up find the front connectors wires inside and find out if there are any connectors on the motherboard to plug them into.
the reason the rear ones work is because they are soldered directly to the motherboard.
good luck.

Skype not working

Sir,

Click this link for more information........

http://support.skype.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=35

Also Check........

On a PC with external speakers and also a headset with microphone. Windows XP is configured so that standard audio are external speakers and standard microphone is the headset. Skype is configured to use the headset for audio in and out.

This way one can listen to sound from the PC and from MP3 players through external speakers and if there is a call to make or take, this is going through the headset.

But now there is the problem that the noise level for the headset is too low. Increasing volume has no effect on the headset, it only affects the external speaker's volume.

Now the solution: Going to the control panel and opening the sound setting, go to the audio tab. The external speakers are selected as default. Just temporarily select the headset and then click on volume just below. You can now set the volume for the headset, click OK and click cancel (!!!) on the sound control dialog box. This way the external speakers remain as default output.

Skype-->Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard(AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

thanks
good luck

When i skype, people can hear my pc-sounds. Even when i turn of my microphone.

If you can't adjust the recording level of your microfon, and it won't shut off, try downloading and installing the original drivers for your soundcard.

Under device manager where to locate microphone option

Your microphone would only show up under Device Manager if it is a USB microphone. If you are using analog, 2.3mm jack (looks like a headphone jack only red), then you won't see it there.
For WinXP you want to be looking under Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices to see and configure settings for your speakers, microphone, etc.
What is shown under Device Manager, if you aren't using a USB microphone, is the sound card. This is because your headphone and microphone ports are connected to the sound card in your computer.

I can not open speaker,microphone,and volume .

Please re-install *********** board drivers properly including the sound drivers. For even though
we have an outlet for mike nor speaker it is still not activated if we still have not installed its drivers. If this won't work. Try To repair you OS ( Windows ) by means of the installation cd. Have a nice day my friend. I'm hoping this would help you a little.

Speakers

Most speakers are 'Dumb' devices that means there isn't any information exchange between them and your PC. Other than your PC providing the source sound for your speakers to play.
Some sound cards can detect that speakers or a microphone are plugged in but not what type.

Possibly your sound card on your PC is not working or you have the speakers plugged into the wrong sockets.
