If you mean will the Gen 5 DVR Station Remote work with a Gen 4 DVR
Station, I believe it will for at least the basic player controls on
your 604 (except for the alpha keyoard entry because the Gen 4 players
did not have this feature enabled).
If you mean, will the Gen 5 DVR Station Remote control your Archos 604
directly (without a dvr dock), the answer is no, you must have a DVR
Station for the remote to work on any Archos player.
Hi, my Archos 605 160GB is doing the same, Sorry to say the battery has gone. 2 options 1. Back to Archos 2. Replace the battery yourself I ordered mine from HK from the web site BatteryUpgrade. co. uk for about £24 - If you search on Utube there is a video showing you how to change the battery on smaller 605's
Hi everybody i just got off with archos USA tech support there is no other way but to send it in and they wil replace the HDD with a new one. If the archos is not under warranty repair cost is $ 172.50 i think you can buy another one for that price. Although they give you 90 days warranty for their fix.
hitesh_rao - the reset button is at the bottom by the USB and docking ports. Tiny hole, need a pin or paper clip. Once pressed, just switch it back on.
This may be a stupid question, but when trying to configure the TV IR controller function and entering the relevant codes for my TV's, it asks 'did the TV switch off = Yes/No?'
None of my TV's switch off and then I cannot go any further with the config. Is this right? I have logged this with Archos FOUR times now, and they just respond with 'the controller does not control your TV'. I am fully aware that it is not a TV controller, but then why does it want to switch off my TV during the config? I just want them to answer that question.

I had the same problem as you, after hours of browsing the frustrating archos website i simply deleted all the products from my account and then re-registered them. Turned out I'd simply put the serial number of my 605 incorrectly. Once re-registered, the tv-guide came up on my archos link software and updated it. Don't be too pleased though, when I did this about 98% of the channels just had "no information available" displayed on them on my Archos. Can anyone solve that?
