If you have pressed the volume up button, while talking on the phone and it still is not loud enought you will probably have to purchase one of the handsets with a volume control built into it. That is the only suggestion I can think of that will resolve your problem. Good Luck

Cordless handset. Why can't callers hear me?

normally, it is because the Mute button is pressed, but you say they can hear you, but not very loud? Make sure the bottom of the phone is close to your mouth. Look in the mirror. Also find the volume setting on the phone, and turn it up full. This is generally accessed via and options button, scroll through until you find 'Volume' and then press the up arrow.

I have a MH9926 900 MHz cordless phone, I replaced the battery but the volumn is still very low, I can't hear the caller and its a faint dial tone

If the handset volume control won't raise the volume, the speaker has probably gone bad. I used to change a lot of them when working at a shop where we serviced phones. These days, it's probably less expensive simply to buy a new phone than to try repairing one. Basic phones are only $15 or so. You won't have the headache of trying to locate a part (and if you find one, the price plus shipping may come close to the cost of a new phone anyway) and the hassle of installing it. And a new phone will have a warranty.

Whatever you decide, good luck and thanks for using Fixya!

Handset problem

It sounds like you have a defective handset cord or handset. First, at your phone, switch your handset with another phones handset that you know for sure works. From your phone make a test call. If the caller can now hear you, the original handset from your phone is defective. If the caller still can not hear you, switch your handset cord with another handset cord from another phone that you know works. From your phone make another test call. If the caller can hear you, then your original handset cord is defective. You can purchase another handset cord from your local office supply store. Your phone uses a standard handset cord. It may be difficult to match the original color of your handset cord. Be sure to take your defective handset cord with you, so you can try to match the color. If the caller still does not hear you. Put your original handset and original handset cord back on your phone. Then plug your phone in to another wall jack, that you know works with another phone. The other phone needs to be an identical phone to yours (same number of buttons and same model number. The model number can be found under the phone). Wait approximately 90 seconds, sometimes longer, after you plug your phone into the other wall jack. Now, make another test call from your phone. If the caller can now hear you from your phone with it plugged into another working jack, then you have a defective station port or jack where your phone was originally plugged in at. If the caller still can not hear then you have a defective phone.
