Solution for error 1, 5 beeps,

For video data transmission from the Media Receiver to the PDP-434HD
and PDP-504HD-series Plasma Displays, digital signals are used.
Therefore, this unit adopts the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content
Protection) system for copyright
protection. This unit is also provided with a detection switch (TRAP
switch) that will prohibit the unit from being turned on again "if the
upper plate of the unit is accidentally opened," in order to prevent
the panel technology from being leaked out.
The TRAP switch is disabled while the unit is turned off. When
performing internal diagnosis of the PDP, fix the switch to the OFF
position using adhesive tape before turning on the
unit. After servicing, be sure to remove the adhesive tape.

Well you've probably guessed what my next question is......How do i
unlock this receiver?. I'm told that it's simply a matter of keying in
3 buttons of the remote in a defined sequence. I have the service
manual but it doesn't say much about unlocking.

"The next generation of Blu Ray players will be equipped with
powerful explosives that will kill everybody in sight if the unit detects
possible tampering or if someone puts a DVD+R in it." )

( They use a photocell to kill the DVI board if light hits it
(as in the backboard removed). The TV continues to work, but not in
HD.
bypass the Pioneer's switch, or put black tape over the photocell.

SOURCE: I have a Pioneer PDP-R05G

This is a classic "Hic-upping" switchmode power supply problem. The protection circuitry inside the SMPSU, has sensed a severe potential problem, and is attempting the shutting of the set, down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both.
This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, (This set should be removed from the Power),
What is happening is the internal "Fault" that is causing the Protection Circuitry , to detect the problem and attempt to shut down the set, keeps restarting the set, because as soon as it shuts down, the "Faulty" component(s) cool down?, and the "Fault" ostensibly "Clears" so the PSU starts up again, only for the component(s) to heat up, whatever, again and fail, so it shuts down, and if left unattended, this would continue on until the part eventually failed. As related this is called a "Hic-upping Power Supply". Any fault that involves the power supply is usually quite serious, and needs a professional, usually, unless one is familiar with servicing current day, televisions.
And in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center. Now, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their "Local" or a, "Head Office" Philips in your case. Ask them, for a referral to an authorised servicing center, where you ask for a "Quote". Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement.
The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free. There are many, many, many reasons that display this symptom, one must work through the troubleshooting steps to isolate and identify, the Cause and repair that and any damage done.

service manual link above,
as an aside here, sometimes things in storage can quickly degrade especially big low value capacitors, these increase in internal resistance, and all sorts of problems ensue, this is why, say, military things are cycled at least weekly when in "Moth balls" to prevent exactly this.

I cant get the fans to turn on!!!!!!!!!!!

Call up the 'Integration Menu" - the fans can be switched between 'auto' and 'full speed'.

To do this switch the display into standby. If the standby light flashes 4 times it is indicating a fault in the Thermal Sensor Assembly which will explain why your fans aren't working. With the display in standby press the menu button and within 3 seconds press the power button. The display will turn on with the integration menu. Select the option tab and scroll down until you see 'fan control' - press 'set' to toggle between 'auto' and 'max'. When you select 'max' the fans will run at full speed within a few seconds. The fans are a bit noisey at full speed so you may want to look into replacing the sensor eventually.

Pioneer pdp 502mx goes to standby no picture after power on

Contact Pioneer at 1-800-421-1404 about getting an in-home power supply replacement. This is a known issue with some plasma displays. Some of you would experience a loud pop and then the power supply fails. You get a red light below the ON button, when you press on, the red light will turn green for a second and then back to red. The plasma display will not turn on after the power supply fails. Call Pioneer at 1-800-421-1404.
