Sounds like your power plug has come desoldered. This is internal and will have to be taken apart to repair. If you are comfortable with taking it apart you can repair it yourself. If you have not ever soldered anything before or taken a laptop apart before you need to have someone else do it.
If you decide to do it yourself you will need the instruction manual to locate all of the screws. You will need a soldering iron and a camera along with a pencil and paper to draw a diagram and take notes. Laptops have a lot of fragile parts in them that will break. Do not do this if you do not know how. This is something that a qualified tech should do. You will see the plug and you will need to re-solder it back onto the board. One wrong move and you could damage the entire computer. If you try to do this yourself you are on your own and I am not responsible nor is anyone else.

Most of them have a break down on how to take it apart. The best thing that I can tell you is below. The only thing to do if you do not have the manual is to find a screw and take them out one by one. There should be a way to pop off the top part above the motherboard. You pry on both sides and it should pop up to get under it. The keyboard should pop up from the bottom. All laptops are not the same. Just be very careful, but if you are not sure that you can do it leave it alone. I could do it because I have done it before. Step by step directions without being there is very hard to do.

I cannot get my acer aspire 4315 to AC power up. new batteries are ok. i have changed the power jack but no difference. please help

Check the light on the AC adaptor when plugged in to the laptop. If it is flashing, it indicates that the power is being "spat back". That is, not completing the circuit. Means that you have a fault in the charging circuit. I'd check for burning around the contacts where the DC port was soldered onto the board / or if the plug type, check the socket on the mobo is not damaged and is firmly soldered on.

After that, (if not already done) check the output voltage of the adaptor with a multimeter, might be a simple failure of the ac adaptor, even though it looks ok

My ibm think pad t40 is not switching on

Hi
Assume you are trying this on battery and mains?
1st thing is to check if the AC power adaptor is giving out any power, which you can do by obtaining a multimeter and setting it to 50 volts DC. Place the positive probe in the centre of the adaptor plug and the negative against the outside of the adaptor plug and see if you get a reading. this will confirm that there is power getting to the laptop

(NOTE: THIS IS TO BE TAKEN FROM THE DC END of the power adaptor NOT from where the kettle lead AC source enters the adaptor.. if in doubt, get someone who is competent with using a meter)

2nd, is to check that the power button is not sticking and that the small plastic pin between the laptop body and the screen ( I think these have one) is not stuck, preventing it booting

3rd, If you are getting power by AC to the laptop, check the condition of the DC jack socket, if it is loose, appears to spark whrn the jack is plugged in or crackles, this will need replacing

4th, If the above do not work, it is possible that the main fuse in the laptop has gone...specialist repairers job.

Can not power on the acer laptop. battery ok, ac adaptor ok and charging.

if the laptop does not turn on at all, it would usually be an issue with the motherboard and it needs to be replaced. You may, however, attempt to try disconnect the hard disk, CD/DVD drive, RAM and battery and try to turn it on just using the ac adapter. If there is still no indication of power, you would have to get the motherboard replaced.

My Acer Aspire 9805 battery was replaced. For

It could be an AC adaptor issue.

It should boot when connected directly to the power outlet through the laptop adaptor. If it is not boot, then the adaptor might not be supplying the needed power to boot it up.

If it is possible, try to isolate the issue. Charge your new battery using another laptop. Then plug it in your laptop to see if it works. If it will work, then it is the AC adaptor of your laptop that is defective. If the charged battery still won't make the laptop boot, then there is something wrong with your laptop hardware. If could be a motherboard issue of your laptop.

Ferrari 4000 laptop a/c adaptor will not charge laptop, adaptor ok

Hi

Thank you for your query it sounds like you have multiple hardware issues

1) you mention that the ac adapter does not charge, then you say ac adapter ok. Please clarify if the adapter is faulty or the battery

2) As for the line in your screen, your LCD is faulty and will need to be replaced

I would recommend that you book the laptop into a reputable PC shop for further investigation/repair

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

Try turning on the system without the AC adaptor. If it doesn't work on battery, then try pressing and holding the power key (after removing the battery) for 30 seconds.
Now attach the AC adaptor and try to power on.
If it doesn't work, it sounds like either a motherboard issue or an AC adaptor issue (possibly there isn't enough voltage being supplied) but it's an odd problem. I hope I helped.
Stay spicy, and happy lappying! :)

T30 2366 8GA After removing AC Adaptor battery icon shows Charging and working on AC

there is a switch in the plug end to the back of your comp its like a little swinging door that when you unplug out of back of comp this switch engages battery now if you unplug just from wall its going to see these 2 things the doors not shut but i have to keep working so it sets aside the plug still recognizing it of course but running off the battery trying to still find out why the powers not there but the plug is still plugged in and it will continually search until it reaches its falt point of dead battery
its like a battery backup for your system it gets unplug but wants to know where the power is

now in reference to the little swinging door i call it its a power over relay in your comp for some reason its not closing properly to allow battery to run by self
this is usually just a switch that needs adjusted in the motherboard configuration

Is the battery OK and holding a charge? If not then the AC adaptor or it's connector may be faulty and disconnecting power when the laptop is moved.

i have the same problem. actually its a common problem for many T21 and other old IBM laptops.
i searched that you have to take all power (batery, adaptor)
press the power 10 times and press it for 30 secs then reinsert the battery or adaptor and try to power it on.
they say its done to discharge a certain capacitor that got overcharged after overcharging the battery.
that worked for me before but now my T21 wont start any more with this process.
