I have the same problem. I cannot scan documents, I get this error message

    "Unable to creat MXSML Instance"

When I follow the steps below to solve the problem, I get this error message:

    dllregisterserver in mxsml3.failed
    return code was: 0*8000405

Step one: Re-register the MSXML 3.0 assembly files

    The MSXML 3.0 assembly files
    msxml3.dll
    and
    msxml3r.dll
might be unregistered. Use the steps below to re-register these files.

    1. Click
      Start
      and then
      Run
      .

    2. Type
      regsvr32 msxml3.dll
in the Open: line, and then click
      OK
      .

    3. Restart the computer and attempt to scan. If the scan fails and the same error message displays, proceed to Step two.

First we need to know the operating system installed in the computer.

If you are using XP. Then perform the steps given in the webpage.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c00516936&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en

If the issue still persists then search for the file hpqscnvw.exe(scanning file) and then try to scan from there.

My hp 6500 is refusing to scan but I don't know why.

please try to scan from the following file and check if you are able to scan

  1. Go to the location C:\program files\hp\digital imaging\bin folder
  2. Locate and double click on hpqsciapp.exe to activate scanning application.
  3. Click on scan to scan a picture.
if you are able to scan from this file and unable to scan from solution center then get back to me with the exact error message you are getting and operating system.

After careful research and reading about this problem and how others have handled it, it seems best to go back tot he source for the fix.Read it carefully and follow directions. Since I do not have any info on your PC or your Op sys, I cannot go any further with helping you, it seems pretty self explanatory however. If you have any problems, let us know.

Good Luck with this!

that's Microsoft XML instance...seems that perhaps your printer is having an interpretation issue? Does this happen all the time, or perhaps on only certain document print jobs?
